"Chana Dal Formula | Punjabi Chana Dal"


Chana dal is a dish consisting primarily of split chickpeas stewed with spices such as turmeric. Dal also refers to other legumes such as peas, kidney beans, and lentils, and it's possible you might also find these varieties on your restaurant menu. 



Chana dal is a favorite at home. i make variety of reciepes with chana dal like chana dal vada, chana dal paratha, lauki chana dal curry, bengali cholar dal, chana dal biryani etc. but most of the time i make this simple chana dal fry.



Ingredient


  • Fxings (1 container = 250 ml) 
  • For weight cooking chana dal: 
  • ¾ container chana dal (bengal gram) 
  • 2.5 to 3 containers water 
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder (haldi) 



For Treating The Thana Dal 


  • 2 medium estimated tomatoes - cleaved 
  • ½ container finely cleaved onions 
  • 1 inch ginger - finely hacked (adrak) 
  • 4 to 5 garlic - finely hacked (lahsun) 
  • 1 green stew - cleaved (hari mirch) 
  • ¾ teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera) 
  • ½ teaspoon red bean stew powder (lal mirch powder) 
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder (haldi) 
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder (dhania powder) 
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala powder 
  • ½ teaspoon dry mango powder (amchur powder) or include as required 
  • 1 teaspoon kasoori methi (dry fenugreek takes off) 
  • a squeeze of asafoetida (hing) 
  • 2 tablespoon oil or ghee 
  • Salt as required 
  • A couple of coriander leaves (cilantro) for blending towards the end or decorating 




Step By Step Instructions To Make Formula


 Weight cooking chana dal: 


 Pick and flush the chana dal well in running water. 


Absorb the dal enough water for 60 minutes. 


Deplete the lentils and add them to the weight cooker alongside turmeric powder. add 2.5 to 3 containers water and mix well. 


On a high fire, weight cook the lentils for 7 to 8 shrieks or more, till the dal is mollified and all around cooked. 


Keep the cooked chana dal aside. 


Influencing chana dal to broil: 


In another dish, warm oil or ghee. 


Include the cumin first and broil for a couple of moments till they splutter. 


At that point include the garlic and broil till they turn out to be light dark colored. 


Presently include the onions and broil till they get brilliant. 


Presently include the tomatoes, ginger and green stew. 


Mix and include all the dry zest powders - turmeric powder, red bean stew powder, garam masala powder, asafoetida, dry mango powder and coriander powder.

Include the kasoori methi and mix. 


Pour the cooked chana dal alongside its stock to the sauteed masala blend or the other way around. season with salt. 


Blend and stew the dal for 6-8 minutes till you get medium consistency of the dal. the dal is neither thick nor thin. 


Decorate chana dal with cleaved coriander clears out. 


Serve the chana dal hot with some basmati rice or rotis or bread. 



Formula notes 


  1. Consistency of chana dal can be effortlessly balanced:
