Collaborative Art Journey With @everlove: Beyond The Veil-A Poem

HEREI've written only one poem in my life, when I was nineteen years old: My Poetry Claim To Fame Poetry has constantly alluded me ever since, though I have recently thought a great deal about giving it another go. Particularly with the encouragement of one awesome Scottish Scott who is the BOOM (Gaelic for Bomb...fake story).

Listening to a song by my brother that he had written for a friend, a wonderful being who had been tremendously hurt, inspired me to think of doing something similar. And though I don't actually use the words Beyond The Veil, I hope the intent of the poem speaks to being beyond the veil :) Also, it is meant to be read from left to right.
And last night it poured out of me, so I will share it with you,
When You're Ready
It was a joke before,
but it's a joke no more,
so I won't say it again,
for awhile to my friend,
I'll wait for that time,
and it will be sublime...
when he's ready.
You've suffered in life,
you've known real pain and strife,
by this world you've been hurt,
your face pushed in the dirt,
but a change is in play,
it will soon be your day...
when you're ready.
I met this man who was grand,
who had a great plan,
and he sees that he can,
and he laughs when he's banned,
and time slips like sand,
but he will understand...
when he's ready.
And the world can be kind,
it is not always blind,
and I know that you'll find,
there is strength in your mind,
and the stars will align
and you will be just fine...
when you're ready.
And though it may be too soon,
by at least one afternoon,
to say now it is new,
and my words they are true,
and he's suffered and cried,
he's struggled, near died,
and he's yelled and he's tried,
and he's barely survived,
but the time it will come,
a life breathed anew,
and he'll know in his heart,
that my words they are true,
when I finally say,
my dear friend, I love you....

Again, I thank you my lovely friend. The words have been with me, though I didn't realize quite what they were until I let my fingers type them! I feel very strongly and passionately about the inspiration for these words, I only hope he will one day know how beautiful he really is.

This is such a solemn, intimate piece. Compassion seeps through every stanza, and the emotion is conveyed with every line. I don't what the friend has gone through, but I truly feel for him with this poem. You really have a knack for moving people with your words, my friend. It's interesting to see how your brother translate this into a song. Perhaps a duet between you two?
Actually, he wrote his song for a friend that inspired me to write this poem...but not for the same friend. Two guys who have both been through some hard times in different ways.
We have spoken about singing a duet, perhaps at some point :)

A very nice, heartfelt poem. I think you should consider creating more of them. It is amazing how sometimes these things just pour forth...like they just needed a right time to be born. Thanks for sharing, and great collaboration. You are a multi-talented individual, that's for sure. And having the Boomeister as an inspiration is a good thing, he writes some pretty amazingly creative things as well. Thanks for sharing your creation, my friend.
Why thank you! I think if I start just rambling them out I might find I enjoy it, and also improve :) Aw, you are too kind, and yes, the boomeister is amazingly creative, that is for sure! I really enjoy your stories, you have a way of telling them that just makes me grin and laugh every time :)
So glad you enjoy the stories. They are fun to write. I think you should definitely keep writing poetry. As you said, you will enjoy it. They are fun as well, and can go in any direction, like writing.
The nice thing about them, is that you let them flow from you and they're done. Oh, you can fiddle with them of course, but a re-write of a page is not quite the project a re-write of a book is, lol, which is nice!

Thank you @silviabeneforti :) I have always had a difficult time with writing short pieces, so I write novels, lol. But I do want to try this poetry thing a bit more!
