STEEM Food Tours #53 - “PEDRO ‘N COI” - Quezon City

in #qurator5 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemit and Foodies out there!

Today I will show you my recent travel in Manila as I had a great dining experience in “Pedro ‘N Coi”.

But before we go further, let’s discover first the derivation of the restaurant’s name, “Perdo ‘N Coi”. It was named after the nicknames of the couple who owned this resto. They are some of the famous persons here in the country, the businessman Lloyd Lee (Pedro) and (‘N) Shamcey Supsup (Coi), the 2011 Miss Universe 3rd Runner-up. Oh she is not only famous in the Philippines but rather in the whole Universe. Lol!

This restaurant showcases the authentic Pilipino Genre during the 90’s. The interior is composed of Pinoy elements just like inside a typical home, like the wooden and metal table and chairs in the 90’s. The walls are designed with popular television shows and personalities. Pedro ‘N Cio recreated the ambience of eating outside the house, in the street similar during fiestas.

Also, the exticing experience in eating inside the iconic transportation in the Philippines, the Jeepney.

The colors inside is so festive and inviting, representing the cheerful characters of the Filipinos.

On the other side of the walls you will find the depiction of the busy city of Manila and the well know landmark in Sta. Cruz.

While the second level, the old wooden house and the capiz shell windows was remarkable, it was like stepping in the ancestrals house back in the days.

But not only that, the interesting part is their MENU, if you’re a ”Batang 90’s”,
just like me 😅 you will definitely smile and will relate to the names in the menu. With the popular tag lines, jokes, names and personalities are the food names we’re derived which sound really funny for others but made really sense.

And speaking of food, of course we got our orders:

This is the “Talong Ranger”, named from the band The Lone Rangers in the 90’s. Talong is Eggplant in English, basically it is an Eggplant Omelet. A special eggplant omelet with ground pork topped with salted duck egg, fresh tomato and onions.

We also have “May Asim Pa”, a popular phrase which usually address to a middle-aged person that still good looking or “yummy” 😅. Well, this dish is “Sinigang”, a Filipino sour soup made from deep fried pork belly in Tamarind with vegetables like petchay, string beans, tomatoes, eggplant, radish and taro.

Ofcourse, we tried the house specialty, the “Manok ni Pedro, their very own version of slow roasted marinated bone-in chicken.
A whole roasted chicken, cut in half platted with soy sauce, hot sauce, atchara and blanched kangkong stem. All dishes are paired with plain rice.
The taste was all good as it looks, the tang of Pinoy cuisine! 😋😋
Our total bill cost 1,470.00 Php (about 30.00 Usd) good for 3-4 persons.

It was past noontime when we arrived in the place, the mall goers are almost done with their lunch. Perfect for us to have a quit meal and photo taking. Haha!

Pedro ‘N Coi is located at 3rd level of Fisher Mall in Quezon City, Philippines.

All photos are captured by my Samsung S7edge.

Thank you for dropping by and have a good day.

This is also my participation for @qurator’s Tasty Tuesday.

Hi there @bluesapphire06!

Glad to have bumped to a fellow filipino! Congrats on your curie!

First of all, i had been wanting to vist that place in the future.. hehe good thing nakita ko post mo.. yes i have read quite a review too of their business venture. They have gotten excellent feedbacks especially that they are promoting our own. I love the jeepney inspired theme, its so homey! And with the colorful and festive accessories it always reminds us how we celebrate fiestas and other special occasions. That alone makes us pinoy!

Just by looking all your food shots, it all made me hungry all of a sudden. It is really unique and very interesting to name recipes out of the ordinary. I love the "my asim pa" sinigang versuon.. hehe soooo cute! And i pity San Pedro that his manok has been cooked! Hahaha that was funny indeed. Very clever.

With said, I cant wait to set foot in Manila once again.

Thanks dear friend for a sumptuous and yummy post!

Cheers! ❤

Thanks for entering @steemfoodtours #53!

Thank you. 😊

I like trying different foods from around the world. What I find interesting is how they adapt the flavors and use things we wouldn't think of using. I have learnt form previous experiences to dodge these sorts of paces as they are normally a tourist trap. This food looks good and the prices are not too bad for what you ordered either.

Thank you ... Trying different food from around the world is not just tasting the flavors but also learning their culture. 😉
