Touche!!! - Words of Wisdom - a Gift from my Dad

in #quotes7 years ago (edited)

My Dad was a very wise man who knew things way beyond his time.

He would often feed me little tidbits of wisdom -
pieces of the puzzle to open my mind --
helping me free me from myself.

When my children were little and I was managing a very active life,
I was telling him about all the things I had going on,
how busy I was, how hectic my schedule had become,
all the things I had to do, the deadlines to meet......
blah, blah, blah!!

All of that business came across to him as a complaint.
His wise words to me were:

"And whose fault is that?"

Touché!!!!

It was all of my own choosing - I had to take responsibility!
I was doing it to myself!

Check out my recent post about presenting at the Creators Conference in Las Vegas.  I'm excited to support this community and share my experience of my journey on Steemit through art, and how it can help you find your niche when doing what you love.

@quinneaker and @saramiller will be in Las Vegas at the Creators Conference too.  Quinn is the keynote presenter and also sharing his SteemPowered Success Series.  Sara will share the Officially Official Yoga!

The more we progress in life, the more responsible we become. No one is responsible for our happiness or sadness, we are simple the architect of our own doing. Shifting blame on something or someone else does not amount to anything.

Isn't that the truth @kingsolo! When blaming we will be victims. Empowerment comes from taking responsibility. So glad we're on the same page. It's great to have you here.

so true and I feel modern humans do not like to own their repsonsibility. Things are always the fault of some mythical outside source and until we own our stress is from our situations made by us, then we can't take the control to change the things to lead to different circumstances. Wise father. :)

It's amazing how accustomed we have become to feeling like victims. It's a default set in our society that most everyone takes on as their own. Responsibility really is the key to empowerment. My dad was wise indeed. Glad to see you here @donnadavisart.

Wow! What a wise man. That's deeper than it sounds. You were looking for some sympathy, and he gave you a whole new perspective. We are definitely responsible for our choices and that is where prioritizing takes place. Wow. Short but it hit the target.

He was always good at giving a few words that just hit home. It is deeper than it sounds as there are many layers to his wisdom behind those words. Glad to have you here again @olawalium.

I wouldn't mind you giving more of his words or quotes. I love deep words that get you think. You are truly blessed to have him rub off on your good nature. I knew your words are full of depth. Really impressive. You are special.

I was indeed blessed to have such a wise example. I like tuning into the depths of things too @olawalium. Nothing like challenging ourselves to return to our soulful purpose! Thanks for being here and sharing yourself with me! <3

Anytime my friend.

We need to be responsible for whatever happened in our life, that would help us to change the things we can and accept those we can't. You are a good product of your dad, you are so wise and smart....

Missed your little day off..... Smile

With responsibility comes great power, and with great power comes responsibility. We're blessed to be able to choose both! Glad to see you here @emmakkayluv.

Wise words from a wise woman, glad to always be here.

One great person gives you all kind of wisdom he had and he is wise. And the one who was wise enough to grab it was too the wise one. It's never one way :))
Cheers to you that you could grab that and moreover share with us all :)

Great comment @komal---for it is true--putting the wisdom into practice is also wise! Grateful to share with you.

A wise thing to say as a parent..xx

Short and to the point---he always had a way with that!

I love doing puzzles with my mom and also playing memory games. I always win it in memory. But she's very good at puzzles.

Puzzles were always a family favorite when I was growing up. I wonder if many people play games these days.

Hey @everlove , great post! I enjoyed your content. Keep up the good work!

A man as wise as king Solomon✌; Jah bless💖
