Ableton Tutorial: Psytrance Basslines

in #psytrance8 years ago (edited)

Psytrance Basslines

These are 3 popular basslines in psytrance music.

Below I will show screenshots of what these all look like as well as a link to the audio of what it sounds like. Now I have used a regular 909 kick loop, but this tutorial will be focused and show just the basslines.

Keep in mind the bass can be substituted for ANY bass sound to make the possibilities endless!

Bassline 1 (Also known as Oompa)

You will put 1 bass sound on every 3rd note on a 1/16th loop.

Bassline 2

You will put 1 bass sound on every 3rd AND 4th note on a 1/16th loop.

Bassline 3 (Also known as Full on!)

You will put 1 bass sound on every 2nd, 3rd, AND 4th note on a 1/16th loop. However this time you will turn the velocity down on every 2nd note.. Like I have shown below.

And then duplicate that to fill 1/16th loop..

Here is a demo to give an example of how it sounds combined!

Thanks for taking the time to check out my tutorial, and remember that it is pretty much the same concept for the other softwares as well!
