For my 3rd list of curation choose one of the greatest gaming franchises ever made and a horror franchise that changed the gaming landscape forever. But it is still sort of not that popular as some of the more recent horror titles and Silent Hill franchise managed to not get the Resident Evil treatment. Despite all that Silent Hill is a franchise that begs to be explored and discussed. the fan base isn't that huge but they are rightfully passionate. In case you don't know anything about the franchise this video will help you get in touch to some extent.

Some Additional Inspiring History

When people re passionate they go the extra length and it is that extra length that really counts and elevate things from mediocrity. Silent Hill 2 happens to be the most profound of them all and I found a collection of 6 videos buried in YouTube barely getting few thousand views combined and somehow these happens to be the greatest and most accurate (IMO) analysis on some aspects of he game and it's an analysis that I'm totally on board with. please check them out and give some love it deserve. After all that's the best part of the curation process; the uncovering of gems.

Silent Hill (2006) Movie Was Amazing

This is probably the greatest video game adaptation ever and it is a significantly faithful one. Another great thing is that Silent Hill (2006) manage to do a gender swap perfectly well. The movie is based on the story of the first game but this time, the main character is a female. Instead of just making it superficial the story actually incorporate that motherhood into the story. For those who know nothing about the games and/or those who are expecting a more western horror will find the movie to be disappointing.

The atmosphere is not notch and the worst things I can say about the movie are some of the dated CGI and sometimes the movie is so faithful it feels like video game fottage than a movie at certain instances 9which some might even consider a plus)

The sequel was more of a noble failure though. It had a severe lack of budget when it comes to the sets and effects. The creators seemed to have gotten in touch with what the games are about and they do try to take many good things from the third game for the movie. But it is really an uneven execution. At times everything is just perfect, them sometimes things look a bit flawed and rushed and sometimes it's just bad. At lest the ending itself was good building great atmosphere while connecting the movie to another 2 games.

this one was easily the greatest horror game in recent times and the game was made using the legendary Fox Engine and the devs actually had to downgrade the graphics of the game to release it as a free game that seemed like the work of n indie studio. There are many theories and may fallouts regarding the game. i'm not going to put them all here. But i'll add few of them.

One Final Explanation

I'm a big fan of Carl Jung and I've never really considered Silent Hill to be a completely different dimension or a dream. Based on the Death Stranding leaks I mentioned in an earlier post I'd say that Death Stranding is also going for something much similar to Silent Hill. Also keep in mind that Kojima-san was working "Silent Hills" before the whole thing was cancelled by Konami.
