Mini Motivation #13 - Don't let the irresponsible actions of a few affect your faith in the many.
I just broke one of my rules this morning.
For the mini motivation series, I've pre-designed quotes way in advance, so that every morning, I can just pick one at random and write a short post about it. And I set myself a limit to spend no more than 21 minutes to complete the post and upload it.
Today's different, it took more than 21 minutes, because I was intentionally searching for a quote that can help me express the deep dissatisfaction within me.
I'm sure you've met countless irresponsible people in your life. Some of them could be free loaders while others are just plain uncountable. They would disappoint you when expectations are not met. They would distress you when they turn up late without informing earlier. They would disgust you when they just don't bother apologising.
Sometimes after encountering these irresponsible people, you'd thought,
"Oh man, not again! This is not the first time. Why are people always like that?"
Oh, and boy do they can come in different shapes and sizes - the old and ignorant, the young and immature, the parents who don't give a shit, the "friend" who's always looking for sympathetic assistance, the community hero who just steals the lime light but disappears in time of need.
I know it's hard for me to ask, but here's the thing:
Don't let the irresponsible actions of a few affect your faith in the many.
Don't let the people who drop the ball make you drop your faith in others.
I know it's hard, because I'm asking that of myself too. Believe that there is still someone out there that can really use your helping hand, and let not the bad experience of the past prohibit you from doing a good deed in the future.
Will you be taken for a ride again? Sure, but you know you…
You still want to believe in the goodness of people.
Mini Motivation is my own daily strategy to inspire myself. Mostly 3 minute reads.
From Motivation, we gain Inspiration. From Inspiration, we achieve Momentum. And the rest, they say, is history.
Hope it helps nudge you a bit too in the right direction.
Oh it did? Let me know in the comments, and of course an upvote would be a nice motivation for me. :)
Stay awesome!
Wait, why's Mav posting on Steemit nowadays?
Well, unlike other blogging and social media platform, Steemit is the only platform that allows me to earn cryptocurrency when I engage with it. Yup, one Steem is about USD7, and you, too, can earn Steem Dollars every time you:
- Create content (articles, blog posts, podcasts, videos, photos)
- Upvote (like) other people contents
- Comment on other people's posts
- Have discussions, share opinions etc!
Yup, basically it's the very same thing you're doing on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc all along!
The only difference? For once you can earn a nice income on the side!
Sign up for a free Steemit account, and you can thank me by coming back and upvoting this article. And guess what, you will earn Steem too for doing that! #awesome

That is right..@maverickfoo. And we can change everything in a positive way.
If you know the story of the frog who came to the end and won because he did not hear the words of the people ...
Nice to read positive words like this... thank you @maverickfoo
Hi @yagoub, no, I actually don't know the story of the frog. Do tell :)
Hope you will continue this. I enjoy this post.

Thanks @hafez
Good morning @maverickfoo, I was just checking my feed and your post came out on top. This is the first post that I'm reading today and how good it is to feel motivated by some awesome quotes from you.
Don't let the irresponsible actions of a few affect your faith in the many.
Yes I agree with you, in our life, we will surely meet people who will irritate us and betray our trust in them. The Malay had this proverb;
Kerana Nila Setitik, Rosak Susu Sebelanga
In English, it means;
One Drop of Ink, Ruin a Whole Pot of Milk
Keep our faith, don't let these irresponsible few change our perceptions of others.
Good day.
Hey, that's a really good quote! I learned something new today. Always loved metaphors and parables.
Have an awesome weekend!
"God helps those who work hard. Nobody succeeded without effort"
Hope you will continue this. I enjoy this series.
Thanks @emma28. Will decide after day 21 :)
Have a nice weekend!
It's not easy to push yourself, let it be pushing others.
I admire your determination man.
Friends in need is not easy to have too. People just have too many commitments and tend to lose focus.
Whatever we do in my 2 cents.. Depend on yourself first... Cos here, when we asked for help, ppl see us as beggers... Sad.
Well, there are some who are shameless. In my travels, @deborism and I also see travellers who turned to begging. If you talk to some of them, they have degrees and skills, but they just don't want to go back home. Escapism at a price?
Truly Shameless... thick face lar these ppl. All want the easy get rich scheme.. typical human nature Mave. Now i know Deb's ID lol...ideal partner to have ! Good job u both.
Irresponsibility comes in many forms. Some due to intentional carelessness and others could be due to lack of good habits.
So true. Very good point!
It would be good if they were a few, but I am looking for a few in many not the other way. I guess I'm seeing my misanthropic side of myself when I read your blogs, yet I'm always open to help others, this kind of people never have an affect on my point of view to humanity. Every person responsible for his actions I guess.
It's good that you decide to stay positive despite all around you. Trully, only we can make the change!
To not generalize and prevent that person from planting judgement in your mind is simple but not easy. I understand your feelings and struggle. I also practice another way of understanding that person, by assuming it's circumstances that causing them behaving that way enables me to put myself in their shoes and understand them.
I wrote an article about everyday life event in KL that creates dissatisfaction in us, and how we can see from a different view. I hope my articles are able to help you, in some way.

Good post there. I'm reminded of a story in Stephen Covey's 7 Habits too, on us being response-able.
Thanks for the reminder. :)
Don't mention it, Maverick. I am already very happy that what I wrote could serve you.
I'm getting that book too!! What are your key takeaways from this book?
That's an old book, and haven't visited it for a while.
But one thing that really stood out for me, even til today, is the exercise on "what your loved ones will say about you during your funeral". What a great way to lead into his chapter on "begin with the end in mind".
That's the legacy you will leave, right? Very very powerful and deep indeed.
I'm so gonna get that book!
Thanks @maverickfoo. It can really be tough. A few bad apples can really harm the whole group. It happens quite frequently in our Society.
Just look at the Muslim community. There are a lot of people in America that lump all Muslims as radical jihadists.
The fact is they are NOT.
Just people letting a few bad apples ( radical muslims) decide how they feel about an entire group. Really sad :(
I think experience causes us to be weary, and we tend to generalize too. It's like a defense mechanism of sorts if the unconscious mind.
Totally agree! But it’s so hard!! I have this problem with men. When dad and boyfriend disappointed me, I stopped to believe in men at all
Well, two men can't be the destroyer for faith for the entire gender, right? Not that I'm trying to fight for my own kind, though I have to agree men can sometimes be total jerks, myself included.
Very honest answer and critical to yourself. I think the problem here is not about the quantity- 2 men, but quality- the most close men))
