Personal rejections as gifts from God
Rejections proved a rescue from God! Did a rejection ever make you feel like you are not good enough for that person? It could be relatives, friends or relationships? If your soul got damaged by rejected disrespected behaviors of that person then imagine how their hunger for taking advantage of your attention would damage you if they had the opportunity to have you from close.
The only problem was them and not you. Stop torturing yourself then anymore. Put a big full stop to a useless feeding of others narcissisms. You thought you wasn't good enough, well you were right! You were too much. Humans just go where they can feel safe because we may got into a society where everyone could be accepted however our uncivilized part still exists. That means that a too much option could be very dangerous for our existence. In order to feel safe in our group should cover up our insecurities being in the same level, not more neither less. Only then, that monkey part can protected itself from the unknown.
You should also take rejection as an opportunity in self-analysis; there is always a part of you that fails and this causes this misalignment which leads to forming a close bond with someone as damaged as you.
Too much option about anything is definitely bad. But people do not make a decision in choosing based on abundance they make a choice based on popularity (or the opposite - unpopularity but to still the same effect).
You speak about insecurities. It would be nice if you could expand on that topic.
