Today’s is the start of a series of posts about the role of sex in your marriage.

Sex is a very important part of your marriage. Sex is the only thing that you will share only with your spouse, and what set a marriage apart from other relationships. Not only does sex set you and your spouse apart from just being roommates, it requires a deeper level of communication.

The first time you had sex was the moment that you became one. Sex is the glue that bonds your bodies, heart and souls. It is the celebration of this unification. Every time you make love, this your love for each other is confirmed and strengthened.

For a couple to have a satisfying sex life, it requires that you talk to each other about your most intimate and emotional things. For this to happen, both should feel a comfort level with each other and a deeper level of trust. It also made you very vulnerable by asking, receiving and giving sexually. Your marriage should be a safe environment for this type of communication to take place without fear of rejection. This kind of intimacy, talking and the physical intimacy, hugging, kissing and touching each other creates the passion in your marriage.

Especially wives that crave this deeper connection with their husbands should remember this. Making love with your husband tells him that your relationship is much deeper and intimate as any other. It tells him that you desire him and love him enough to be with him on this deeper level. Love making creates passion and romance that can’t be created any other way than sexually. Without sex your marriage will be shallow and without any passion. Also, a wife that wants her partner to open up to her, share his thoughts and feelings with her must remind herself of the importance of their physical union. If he feels neglected in the area of physical intimacy he would not open up to connect with you emotionally. This can also be reversed, in the busy life we live, it also has become common that the man may be the one that is avoiding sex, ignoring his wife's emotional and physical needs.

If you are a much older couple reading this and thinking we have great emotional intimacy and the sexual don’t matter so much anymore, then it is because you laid the correct physical foundation when you were in your prime years. It can become less important when you are married 40 years or more, then it is not a problem, as long as your spouse if feeling the same. You can still work on your physical intimacy. by holding hands, hugging, kissing and just cuddling in bed. This is in any case also for all couples as this can be the prelude to a steaming session of love making! The opposite can also be true where an older couple is still enjoying great sex.
