Given the rising awareness of Fake News, perhaps we're ever more ready to also be vigilant against Fake History. Our understanding of history provides the context for understanding current events, and making future decisions.
"A very wise man once believed that if one were permitted to make all the ballads of a people, it would not matter who made their laws. The modern propaganda theory is that if there can be direct control of the educational agencies of a people, it cannot matter who makes their ballads even, or their laws." (Chapter 7, 9:10)
"What of our independent self-respect and national morale if we are thus to be colonized intellectually, emotionally, and politically as the dependency of Great Britain and her imperialistic purposes." (Chapter 6, 10:53)
The Poisoned Loving-Cup: United States school histories falsified through pro-British propaganda in sweet name of amity, by Charles Grant Miller, was published by the National Historical Society in 1928. It is now very rare and expensive. It discusses British propaganda attempting to rewrite American history books — in America — around the time of the first world war. This may be the most potent 2.5-hour-long book I've ever listened to.

"The stealthy rewriting of our school histories was but one manifestation. The Anglo-American professional puppets in Anglicizing our school histories have been jumbling together both the old and new British versions. They have been zealously stressing the oppressive tyrannies of the German king, while at the same time disavowing that there were any oppressions or tyranny.
They create irreconcilable contradictions which either sophistry destroys the other, in any mind but that of a child. But it is upon the mind of a school child that these impositions are attempted. That false impressions may delude our citizenry of the future." (Chapter 4, 14:30)
"American students as well as our increasing thousands of naturalized citizens seeking enlightenment of our historical accomplishments, and national ideals, are being instructed through Anglicized authorities to consider, for instance, the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812 as huge American blunders inspired by a few sore heads and hard-headed politicians looking for personal gain..." (Chapter 8, 4:22)
Many of us have been aware of the lineage of our modern school system to the Prussia education system (haven't you heard The Ultimate History Lesson yet?!). We have seen schools increasingly mold minds with just enough critical thinking capacities to take orders on a factory line. But this book documents a remarkable case study of another variety of manipulation within our education.
"Andrew Carnegie stated well the power of patriotic education, and he stated well what the lack of it would mean. What were his conscious motives in endowing the vast foundation for the control of colleges, public schools, and public library systems of this country that have yielded him his fortune — we may not know.
But we do know he was born a Britan, died a Britan, and was a loyal Britan all his life, for he said so. We also know that his fondest dream was the reunited states, the British American Union, for these are his own words." (Chapter 7, 4:20)
"Carnegie endowments, though covering but a small fraction of the cost of public libraries, have secured for the foundation large control of the policies of their management, and all but complete control their training schools for librarians.
Through this control, such books as Van Tines are purchased and recommended by public libraries, and their authors are exalted as authorities. While on the other hand, the histories that are loyal to American traditions and established truth are rejected or discredited, and their authors unrecognized or disparaged in the same tax-sustained institutions." (Chapter 8, 12:29)
It also discusses Cecil Rhodes' last will and testament and his plans to reunify the Anglo-American empire. This book was published almost 40 years before Carroll Quigley laid out too many details of this plot in Tragedy & Hope. (Check out the free Tragedy & Hope 101, for core concepts and highlights from Quigley's 1,300 page tome.)
"Many have vaguely held the same creed of the divinely appointed mission of the British race. But few like Rhodes have made it a direct spur to action throughout their lives. With that curious mixture of child and prophet found in great men, the boyish document, the first draft of Rhodes' will directed that a secret society should be endowed with the following objects.
The extension of the British rule throughout the world. The 'colonisation by British subjects of all lands where the means of livelihood are attainable by energy, labour and enterprise, and especially the occupation by British settlers of the entire Continent of Africa, the Holy Land, the Valley of the Euphrates, the Islands of Cyprus and Candia, the whole of South America, the Islands of the Pacific not heretofore possessed by Great Britain, the whole of the Malay Archipelago, the seaboard of China and Japan, the ultimate recovery of the United States of America as an integral part of the British Empire'. [quoted from Rhodes' will]
In 1882, 1888, 1891, and 1893, he made further wills all with the same intention. Fantastic dream? Fantastic as the design appears, it has already largely been fulfilled." (Chapter 10, 0:49)
"When such a man has regarded a project as feasible, had planned it through his lifetime, had invested his millions in it to carry it out long after he was gone, it cannot be regarded as a mere dream unworthy of serious consideration." (Chapter 10, 2:39)
"Are Rhodes scholars now running the country, the United States, as Cecil Rhodes hoped they would?
George H Putnam, New York based book publisher, who helped organize English-Speaking Union, had boasted in a speech in London that the United States government is now securely in Anglo-Saxon hands." (Chapter 10, 4:13)
Let us not forget that the nation with the most foreign influence in America is still the United Kingdom. For example, Cambridge Analytica (CA) is the London-based privately held company that combines data mining and data analysis with strategic communication for the electoral process. It was created in 2013 as an offshoot of its British parent company SCL Group to participate in American politics. In 2014, CA was involved in 44 U.S. political races. Last election, they worked for Ted Cruz, then helped Donald Trump achieve his comically tragic victory for this season's puppet-in-chief.
Now, I am in no way nationalistic, or patriotic in any traditional sense. I too wish for a world without imaginary lines dividing massive nation-states, and their wars. But I do think it's worth respecting some of the philosophic founding of the United States as the start of a new epoch of increased freedoms and representative governance. It was an important step in our collective evolution.
The Voluntary world in which I wish to live would fairly balance independence and interdependence, the individual and the collective. Consent matters. This requirement contradicts with the goals and methods of the Anglo-American empire, or any other imperialism using force, coercion, and/or the destruction of more truthful histories.
I am ready and working for a world far less similar to 1984. Would you like to help build it together?
