The measles scaremongering

If you follow the news, you’ll probably get the impression we’ve always been at war with Eurasia, I mean the measles… And no, I couldn’t resist referencing ‘1984’, because I feel like Winston Smith with his newspaper scrap…
The scrap I came upon is from 1961, when the (still) heir to the British throne was taken ill with what we are led to believe is the scourge of the 21st century, measles…

Pay attention to the wording of this brief report - there’s not a hint of panic in it, although the victim was the heir to the throne. Well, the sickness will follow its natural course and no, nobody considers there will be anything else to say on the subject. Also, no fears about a possible epidemic, no SWAT teams were deployed to enforce any quarantine of the school… And, the Queen could not be bothered with her son’s life hanging in the balance and proceeded with her tour of India…

The site I found the above title offers a link to a ‘measles simulator’ so people can check for themselves the situation in their area and see what plague awaits them if their neighbors refuse to vaccinate…. I let the simulator running while I was writing and at this moment the people of Franklin County, Ohio are screwed, unless, of course, authorities step in and have everybody vaccinated, at gunpoint, if necessary.
