WIP -screenshots of Steve Zissou digital drawing/proof it is not just a "filter".
Someone has flagged my drawing and another person (who is obviously a troll) is claiming it is just a filter and not a drawing. Here is the file in gimp with all the layers and it with layers turned off to show it is a drawing.
Here is the work station in GIMP with some layers turned off:
And other layers:
and the one WIP I took:
I guess I will from now on include a link to imgur with some WIPs.
Yes, there was a photo reference but it is 0% in this photo. Each piece was drawn by hand as you can see from all the, poorly named, layers. :)
If someone has a -6 rep maybe check why they have it before flagging someone's content. I have a troll that dedicates their time pathetically to trolling me and this is very obvious from one look at their profile. I will, regardless, be posting WIPs so nobody is fooled by his trolling in the future.
Oh and here is the finished drawing in cases you missed it. :)
Unflagged your post after intervention of @bacchist. The reason I commented was to be sure I'm not abusing my flag rights.
Yeah, he is a known troll. He legit spends almost all of his time trolling me. (it's kinda sad and almost funny at this point to watch) I am just going to include links now of the WIP. Or maybe even make a gif of a WIP to post with each image. It's be a fun way to disprove his bullshit. :)
nicely drawn and colored!
thanks :)
Very cool to see WIP, even if under unfortunate circumstances. Very cool artwork.
This is really out of control. I will never interact with the troll and his words mean jack shit to me but somehow people are apparently fooled by his BS without even looking at his -6 profile. So, now I have to defend my art. >_>
start acknowledging the images you use as source
You accused her of simply applying filters to the image. You have been proven wrong. Immediately acknowledge and apologize for that, garbage creature.
Yeah, it's really quite absurd...
To be fair he does have a valid point in regard to using photo reference without permission. I'm not saying that is your case at all, just in general.
Making a derivative work from a photograph used as reference where it's obvious the photograph has been copied is frowned upon if not outright illegal depending on circumstances.
Under most circumstances nobody is going to know where the reference came from if it's something like trees or animals, but a human face is pretty easy to identify and without permission of the owner, well what can we say? It's derivative, right?
If it's for ones own artistic practice and personal enjoyment there is no issue at all, but to profit from it, is not so cool. This is part of the potential issues Steemit can have. Someone can so easily get paid for something they have no right to profit from.
That being said, I'm behind you on this one @lauralemons . I don't see the problem with this particular artwork. Keep on keepin' on!!
Yeah, I agree with that point myself. Which is why my newest post is a drawing of a friend/steemer I got permission from. :)
That is a valid point but this is srsly a troll whos been stalking me for over a month and he was saying I applied a filter to a photo and blogged about me being a con-artist. His point wasn't even the one you made. He repeatedly commented as if he had proof my art was not drawn digitally but was a filter which I proved him wrong on.
and I hadn't really thought of that issue. I wasn't even thinking of that. I will either alter the piece significantly in the future or use friends photos with permission when posting here I guess.
Regardless repeatedly spamming my photo and calling me a liar who didnt draw this with no proof was unwarranted.
I agree with you entirely. I just noticed his other comment here somewhere and I was replying to that point only. You're doing fine! Keep up the good work!
I don't really think it would be illegal to post it here but selling it outright would definitely be illegal from what I am gathering. Regardless I will stick to posting non fan art here.
Wow! Kudos to you for not following the trend and being on macOS and Photoshop but instead on GIMP and Linux!! Haha. Admirable =)
haha This is where I should pretend me not having PS have anything to do with things other than me being poor? Honestly tho, I am completely fluent in gimp now. At first I was like "I know how to use PS not this stupid knock-off" but it's Amazing for free software and does almost everything PS does. I do miss the magnetic lasso but I know that one of the tools in GIMP is kind of similar. That's the only tool I even miss though.
When they can't make something like you do , they will start pushing you around until you tripping . Chill haters anywhere :)
This person has been stalking/trolling me since my first day here. He even went as far as to say I just made this after he claimed I am a liar. LOL and that's "why it took two hours to reply". Uh, how about no, not everyone sits in front of steemit refreshing all day. :) It's cool. It'll be fun making step by step WIP pics of my future art. I am doing another life aquatic character drawing today and will have the step by step GIF with it! :D
Just have to make the best of anything like anything...
You got trolled. Happens to the best of us (IMO your one of the best of us)
He's been trolling me since I started over a month ago and has a little helper buddy too. It's kinda sad. :P Thanks. :D
I always like seeing WIPs of digital paintings. Digital painting is not a skill I possess at all, so it's fascinating to me!
Thank you. Next time I plan to create a gif of the entire process step by step. :)
