My Kind of Steemit Promotion

Purpose and Introduction: This post is intended to stir up a discussion on how are we going to promote steemit. I would love to hear comments from all of you on how did you do it. Basically, I want to consolidate promotional tactics that work on respective situations.

Background: With the success of @steemph.cebu's Gift Giving Day, it's undeniable that steemit.com has been etched in the memories of the beneficiaries. It's now in their minds that they have received something because of steemit. In a way, it can also be considered as a promotion. A promotion to spread the word about steemit.

As I entered the venue of the event, something immediately caught my attention. So I took a photo and it will be the center of discussion of this post.

Main Point: In all aspects of advertising, this will really catch the attention of anyone who sees it. It will leave a mark on them, but the response can be categorized into two: optimistic and pessimistic. Optimistic response will go like this:

Really? Can I join? How can I join? How will I set up my account? Wait, let me research more about it.

On the other hand, pessimistic response will probably go like this:

Really? It's that simple? It seems like a scam to me. How will you be paid? It's too good to be true. Let me think about it.

Supporting Details: While we can't totally dismiss the pessimistic response, it is a waste of time trying to grasp an entirely new concept. Surely, questions will arise, however; the optimist has already done something to answer questions.

Those responses are to be expected in any promotion and we have to be aware on how handle them. For us to be successful in promoting steemit, we should be armed with the right tools.

I am discussing this right now because I have been promoting steemit to my colleagues. During those attempts, I have encountered different kinds of responses which can be classified into two as mentioned above. Also, I knew a lot of friends who deserve to be here because they have all the requisites, but they are wasting way their opportunities on something that doesn't return value to them.

Specific Examples: I tried two strategies in promoting steemit. One is through word-of-mouth. In this method, I personally approached my friends and tell them about steemit. But I was replied with tons questions. Questions which I can answer based on my current understanding, but I have difficulty in expounding some of them. I tried my best in explaining, but some remained skeptical. I can't blame them. My concern is more on the missed opportunities.

Second is through social media. In this specific case, I tried Twitter. I didn't try Facebook yet because I rarely used it recently. Steemit is really addictive. Details on why I rarely use Facebook is worthy of another post. Back on Twitter, I made it public and this is what I tweeted recently:

I don't know if I nailed it or I failed miserably in that particular method. One thing is for sure, someone contacted me immediately for a discussion. What do you think guys?

Closing Statement:

We can't completely shut down those who question the authenticity of steemit, but we have ways to prove them wrong.

In the end, I need the brilliant minds of my fellow steemians to discuss more about how we can properly promote steemit to the public. We need to have a concrete way of introducing steemit to them without overglazing it and make it appear like a top-tier scam.
