This is a Project that I would fully support.
As a Community, we need to reach outside of the #Steem Ecosystem and start building Strategic Partnerships with other Businesses and Projects where mutual benefits can be made.
A Strategic Partner that has a Fiat Gateway and Exchange API already built would be a perfect Partnership for the #Steem Community.
A Partnership with a facility like that would not only bring tremendous liquidity to the Ecosystem, but it would bring more awareness and more use cases.

It does seem like a good idea @stephenkendal, and certain an interesting and possibly overdue "use case," if you can call it that. I'm not sure what's entailed in getting VISA branding on a financial instrument, though... how much the initial cost would be, OR who would be fronting the money for the initial setup and financial guarantees in what is allegedly a decentralized system...
But interesting idea, all the same!

It wouldn't be too hard to set up.
We would just need a Banking Partner with a Visa Mastercard back-end and Fiat Gateway / Exchange API to plug into the #Steem Blockchain.
People would then be able to purchase anything / anywhere that has the Visa Mastercard sign using their liquid #Steem straight from their #Steem Wallet.
It would be pretty cool.

I believe a future with credit cards that will pay in cryptocurrencies is getting closer.
There are many people in the world who have large sums of cryptocurrencies. Even many young people who have been good at seizing the opportunities that this world has proposed almost for fun. Probably it will be more fascinating to pay via smartphone from wallets, than from a credit card, but it would be very nice to have it.
This is a great idea Stephen.
What would be the practical steps to make it happen?
