The much anticipated STEEMIT meet-up finally saw the light of the day on Friday, June 22nd at Bedge Bell Hotel conference room. Every arrangements have already been made. The guest speaker @jingis07 had already arrived. Meanwhile, I got news the day before from @lordjames that @xpency wouldn't be joining us for very important reasons. Awwwwwwwww! Thanks to @Uche-nna, the CEO of steemjet community. He told me he was gonna show up but I didn't believe him. He kept true to his words as about twenty minutes before the start of the workshop he arrived. We decided to wait until we got a quorum before starting the meeting.

At about 2:30pm, over twenty four people were already seated and more were trooping in. I was the anchor/moderator for this workshop. I had to take the stage. I already had a plan for the program. We started with an opening prayer, introduction of the speakers and delegates and a brief intro to the business of the day. I had to prepare their minds for what was to come in this workshop. I got all their attention and their appetites wet in readiness for the next speaker.

I invited @lordjames over for the first segment. He spoke on the basics of Blockchain in general and Steemit in particular. He broke down the subject like a class room teacher making sure the audience were carried along. He explained the differences between steem and steem dollars (sbd). Touched the subject of steem power. He reiterated what I already told them in my introductory speech that STEEMIT is not a get rich quick scheme. It's not a ponzi scheme either. So, they shouldn't look at it with a sense of entitlement as people are only rewarded for their content. He rounded up with the "don'ts " of writing a post and making of comments. No begging of people for upvotes, no plagiarized work and many more. Several questions were asked for sake of clarity and he answered them to satisfaction.

@Uche-nna came on board to talk about posting in general. What to post, how to post and where to post. He talked about the various posting platforms and their differences. From dlive to dtube, zapple, stepshot and others. He told them that everyone had a place in steemit. Their uniqeness is what get them rewarded. They could take advantage of the several posting platforms and do what they know how to do best. It's just a matter of finding your niche.

Next on the list was the Utopia.io man @jinjis07. He talked about all there was to graphic designs, translation, bug hunting, visibility, software applications and how people could make contributions to the community through open source projects. According to him, one could do well in this aspect without necessarily building relationships or getting involved in community engagements.

I came on board to talk to them about "Building Relationships as a means to success on steemit" Relationships are fundamental aspects of human lives. We all need people to work with. I spoke to them on how they could be rewarded by engaging in several communities like @wafrica, @steemjet, @bigwaves, @steemgigs and lot more. They could engage in their discord shows and get to know people as it is most likely that the people they know and interact with are same people who would vote their posts. I also talked about how to make constructive comments on people's post as excessive ass-kissing was frowned at. I also touched the subject of tags. How to use appropriate tags to categorize their posts and avoid it flying around without proper visibility.

In his last words to the participants, @lordjames told them how they could pitch their dreams on the Steemit Blockchain, doing what they know to do best using @michaelcj, @surfyogi, @Binnace, @bankofaaaat, himself and many others as illustration. So, there's a place for everyone as numerous options are opened to them on the blockchain. The keys to success on the blockchain are passion, dedication and consistency.

By way of rounding up, @jingis07 showed them using the projector screen how to cash out rewards from their wallets and convert it to Naira using steemexchanger.ng in order to aid withdrawals into their bank accounts.

While refreshments were being served, @godsnana and @rankyb, shared their testimonies on what life on steemit has been so far since they joined and they had to use the avenue to encourage those that are yet to come to be ready to work and not get discouraged if their first few posts doesn't get reasonable upvotes as It takes several tiny drops to make an ocean. Some of the participants were already eager to go as the Nigerian match against Iceland had already begun. We took couple of pictures outside before they left.

It was great working with you. Special gratitude also to our guest speakers @jingis07 and @Uche-nna, CEO @steemjet community. It was amazing having you around.
