Owerri Mega Meetup: Final Report On The Essence Of @eurogee's Visit To Imo State — Second Mission Accomplished!

Hi guys... Yesterday, I did inform the community of the purpose of my trip to Imo state, which is of two folds; one being to secure a suitable venue for upcoming Owerri Mega Meetup while the other is to secure official hotels for the attendees from other states. I was able to be done with securing a suitable venue for the event but couldn't finish with hotel arrangement. Hence, I passed a night in Owerri.

Ordinarily, finding and securing hotels for the event shouldn't have taken more than a couple of hours because Owerri is a home of hospitality and so hotels are common sights within the metropolis. But the main thing I considered is affordability. Nigeria is in a terrible condition economically. Most people cannot afford three square meals in a day. Hence, making reservation deals with expensive hotels would most likely have adverse effect on the number of attendees.

And the organizers of this meetup don't want that. We want as many people as possible to attend. We don't want high rate of hotel rooms to be the reason people won't attend. We need everyone onboard steemit program. Most importantly, we want newbies who haven't earn much to attend so that they would be encouraged to keep persevering.

We want modest hotels that attendees, both new and old, can comfortably afford. And this type of hotels don't come easily in Owerri. To secure one, you have to dig deep within the metropolis. I visited several hotels to no avail. The rates of most ones I visited in the first instance were in the range of N18000 (i.e $50) to N28,000 (i.e $80), which I know most Nigerians cannot afford. They would rather not come than come and be disgraced for not being able to pay for their hotel rooms. For us in @euronation community, everyone is important. And so we will not give them that chance.

With more effort, at long last, I found the hidden paradise: very cheap and standard too! They are:

Princess Guest House, Plot 134 Ikenaegbu Extension Layout, Off Amauzari Street

After several minutes of bargaining, we agreed that all the rooms will be available at the same rate for attendees to book at N4000/day. So with this, there is no Deluxe or Super Deluxe nor Presidential and all of that. Everything will be available at the same price to all attendees. However, there is a condition attached. And that's you must make your reservations at least 5 days to the event.

Lodan International Hotels, Ikenaegbu, Off MCC Road, Owerri

At Lodan, management offered 20% discounts across all room types. The most costly room here is only N10000.

So with this, I can say my trip to Imo achieved the purpose for which it was intended. And you reading this no longer have a valid excuse not to be there.
