Nice one amigo...
That is very helpfull. I hope you are ok if I add a few.
•We collect seed as they as well
• non perishables we stock right up on like toilet paper and dishwashing liquid.
• buy 20 litre food storage containers with screw lids for rice, salt, powdered milk and dried beans....which you can get all in bulk.
• Honey is another luxury item you can buy in bulk and can store indefinately.
Also I would recommend a generator, having lived through a few cyclones I can tell you that if you can cool drink and produce ice you are going to be very popular.

Great info mate, these are the kinds of discussions that make us all more resilient.

Seeds are a great idea. We keep some too including corn kernels which we've had success growing. Sprouting too. We've got a little tiered plastic sprouting rack that you can water and that'll produce tasty and nutritious sprouts in about 2 - 3 days. The seeds are consumed however doing this obviously.

Tubs sound good for protection from the elements. One thing I forgot to say in the video is to keep the water stored away from light... even wrapped in black garbage bags. Helps to prevent organisms growing. Again the purification methods like the life straw and tabs can help there too.

Honey. Yes! Hadn't thought of that.

The generator issue is interesting. We had considered buying one years ago and almost did but opted instead to go with a solar inverter for a few reasons. Firstly it is completely renewable which has been useful when we have had Neighbours run out of petrol for their generators during extended power outages. Secondly it is totally silent and can be run indoors indefinitely. We have found that when you are the only one to have power it might be something not to advertise to broadly. Of course it wouldn't hurt to have a generator in addition. It's one of those tricky ones where you would like to help people but by the same token you don't want to put yourself at risk if that makes any sense. At some stage I'll do a video on the solar inverter we have so you can get an idea of how we use it
