The ancients were more advanced than we think!

in #prehistoric8 years ago

Our world is mysterious, but the little surprises that we are given, either from nature or buildings left by our forefathers make us even more confused. There really incredible things on Earth that have been found over the years that have astonished the researchers. Example is the ancient cities that redefine what we know about our history or objects that remain a huge mystery.

Important findings were made even in the depths of the Black Sea, where, six meters under sand deposited in the depths, researchers have discovered ancient city of Callatis, founded by the Greeks, placed on getics settlements. Moreover, American specialists who have done research argue that the depths of the Black Sea is hiding many mysteries, vestiges of ancient fortresses, monuments and ancient temples, and sunken boats.

To see how incredible is our world, here are some of the most amazing things discovered in different parts of the world.

The gate of the Sun

I wanted to start with the gate of the Sun because people of Bolivia believes that the first people on Earth have their origins from here. Like Stonehenge, Sun Gate is a stone structure, that remains a mystery even today. The object is approximately 9.8 feet tall (3.0 m), 13 feet wide (4.0 m), and is constructed from a single piece of stone. The weight is estimated to be 10 tons.

About Sun Gate is believed that holds importance both in terms of astronomical, but also astronomical.

Here are two pictures of the gate of Sun taken in 1903.

Moa bird

A group of researchers were really shocked when they found such a claw, well preserved in a cave in Mount Owen, New Zealand. It looks like this claw belongs to a Moa bird and dates back 3,000 years. A Moa bird has reached about 3.6 m in height, with neck outstretched and weighed about 230 kg. The Moa population was about 58,000 when Polynesians have settled in New Zealand around the year 1280.

Until the arrival of the Māori, moa birds were hunted only by the Haast's eagle. The Moa birds were the dominant herbivores for thousands of years in New Zealand's forest and subalpine ecosystems.

In Rothschild's book 'Extinct Birds' this moa has been given the scientific name Megalapteryx huttoni. This is a jr synonym of Megalapteryx didinus, the Lesser Megalapteryx or Upland Moa. It was endemic to New Zealand. It was the last moa species to become extinct, vanishing around 1500; possibly, some isolated populations managed to persist until about the early 19th century.

Voynich manuscript

Voynich manuscript remains a mystery to this day, because they have developed many theories which refer to the language in which it is written. In 2012 two groups announced they had solved the puzzle, but the problem was that each group had different opinions about the language in which the manuscript was written. One group said that it is a Mexican dialect, while the second group had the opinion it was an Asian language, codified written.

The manuscript has become the subject of novels and speculation because of the mystery of the meaning and the origin of the manuscript. The total number of pages is around 240, but some of the pages are missing and depends on how the manuscript's unusual foldouts are counted. Every page in the manuscript contains text, mostly in an unknown language. The manuscript also have some extraneous writing in Latin script.

This page from the Voynich manuscript is undeciphered to this day!

Stone spheres of Costa Rica

There are hundreds of stone spheres in Costa Rica, from the smallest (3-4 centimeters) to the largest (3 meters). So far none of the archaeologists has no clue about their origin or whether if were man-made or not. Many legends surround the stones, like they came from Atlantis or because they were made so by nature. Some local legends say that the natives had access to a potion able to soften stone. No one has been able to demonstrate that gabro, the material most spheres are carved, can be worked this way.

They are thought to have been placed in lines along the approach to the houses of chiefs, but their exact significance remains uncertain.

Stone sphere created by the Diquís culture in the courtyard of the National Museum of Costa Rica. The sphere is the icon of the country's cultural identity.

Saksaywaman

The rocks near Peru will amaze you especially the way they can overlap. They fit together so well, without being stuck with mortar and it is impossible to insert an object between the cracks which combines these huge rocks.

The archaeological site is famous for its stone walls, 6m high, with a total length of about 1 km. Many of the stone blocks used in construction of the wall are enormous, peaking at 200 tonnes, the largest used in any construction of prehispanic America. The wall is located at an altitude of 3,700 meters in the Andean Mountains.

The way how the walls bend inwards and especially technology that people of that time were handled large blocks of stone and have them arranged with so precision, remains a mysteries to researchers who are trying to find answers for decades.

Structures like this forces us to learn more about our past and take into consideration that the ancients were more advanced than we think.

I didn't know about Saksaywaman but I have to recognize that looks amazing.
All that rocks so well put together, even these days with such a technology is not an easy task to make such a walls.

Great post buddy, your articles are very interesting.

Thank you very much @denisoi! It is really amazing what people have done back then, and we with our technology we can't. This is really strange. Thanks a lot for the great feedback, buddy!
