Hi Steemians!
It's been raining much here, today supposedly gonna rain again, but next week it will be hot, hot, hot, hopefully.
Yesterday we went road tripping as we had to pick up our soybeans from our supplier, so we decided to take the boys to a strawberry u-pick farm, on the way to the beans supplier :D
It was a cloudy, wet, rainy day, yesterday, though. Needless to say, as strawberries need the hot sunny days to grow, there were not too many, especially with the so many visitors. Nevertheless, we had fun :)
Going to a u-pick farm was always our family thing to do when we were still living in Ontario and Quebec. Here in B.C, there is none, can you imagine? At least up north B.C. We are just too far from anywhere, I guess. The one that we went to yesterday, is located in Alberta hahahah
Had we were not going to get our beans, we would not have went to this farm, as it requires about 2 and a half hour drive, then an hour to the beans supplier, than more hours to return home. That would be about 5 H for the drive itself, yikes!
We learned about this u-pick farm from our neighbor. Sadly, the condition of the patches are not what we expected. The ones we went to down in Ontario or Quebec, are always well taken cared off. No weeds, picking the strawberries was always a breeze. While the one we went to, holy moly, too many weeds, the sharp spikey weeds, am talking about. Hard to reach and pick the strawberries without hurting your hands and whatnot. So we did not really spend hours there....we enjoyed it, but still, it could have been a better time had the owner of the farm would clean them weeds, you know.
My youngest, as always, made so many friends, being a friendly boy that he is. So he was busy chatting with his new friends instead picking the strawberries lol. I had to apologize to people over and over again, should my boy was too chatty, disturbing others, but nope, the people really liked him, his friendliness and politeness.
He is always good to new friends, not just at the patch, but anywhere, anytime. He would even hug or handshake a homeless man. Sometimes I worry that people won't like it, as not everyone likes a hug from a stranger, or likes a little kid even :P
I saw him giving some of his strawberries to his new friends hahaha Then in the end, he would take over the ones that his parents and older brother picked, as his :P So naughty to his own family, yet soooo friendly to new friends hahahah

The farm that we went to was pretty big. They have nurseries for herb and vegetables, they also have vegetables patches, and also corn fields, plus we were meant to pick their raspberries too, but we forgot! We read the sign on their wall there was raspberries, we gotten too busy with ice cream instead, and forgot to check out their raspberries :( I would have lovvvveeeedddd picking raspberries.
And yes. Beside the main farm and nursery area, they also have an ice cream parlor, which they are famous for. So the boys got some treats.
Do you have a u-pick strawberry patch nearby? Do you like going to one with your loved ones? It's a fun activity to do, hey, that would give so much delicious goodies in the end :D Them strawberries are mouth watering always. So perfect with sugar in a hot Summer day :D

most of them are small and with weird shape, some are looking like human bottoms, the kids said :P
That's a decent road trip O_O the strawberries look really good at least XD
We haven't done strawberry picking but have done olive picking and paid extra for the place to press them into oil for us (and also got a tour, was a nice little place run by a couple of generations of the same family so there were 2-3 houses on the building envelope as well as the shed where they did all the pressing and the other shed with vehicles). The oil was pretty good XD
