Sandhill Cranes
Sandhill Crane Photo Shoot
Yesterday was a nice warm and sunny but breezy day here in Florida. I took advantage of the weather but grabbing a few portraits of our resident Cranes.
These two are not migratory but stay locally in Florida. Before long we should be seeing them with their young chick.
These photos are actually of two different birds. Can you tell them apart? Sandhill Cranes mate for life and are usually seen in pairs.

Thank you! They are really wonderful birds and are fun to watch especially when the do their mating dance.
Those are beautiful shots, looks to be an inquisitive bird (or birds), no I did not see much difference between the two Roger.
Really must say quite a red head, very strong feature of the bird.
Thank you Joan! You can see the difference when they are standing next to each other. One is a little bit taller. Also I think one's head is a little thinner than the other. There's no difference in plumage between the sexes like there is with so many other birds. It's almost impossible to tell them apart in separate photos!
They really are lovely regal birds Roger.
I don't think I would have realized they were two separate birds if you hadn't said anything! I love the pop of red on their heads. Upon closer inspection one looks a bit fluffier than the other, but other than that it's tough to tell! Lovely shots!
You're right one of them has a little thicker head/neck! One of them is also taller but you can't tell from the individual photos! Thank you for your comments!

Great photos, he looks pretty cute and photogenic :)
Thank you for your comments!
Beautiful pictures! Those birds really know how to pose :p
Thank you for your comments! These two are pretty tame!
They are almost undistinguishable and it's even harder to tell the dragonfly sexes apart. Some brilliant photos here my friend! Blessings!
Thank you for your comments!
Interesting birds. I like the colors in your photos and the bold composition with these distinct shapes against the more or less even backgrounds.
Thank you! I used as wide an aperture as I could with the lens.
Hey buddy how are you? Awesome shots and I cannot determine the difference between the two birds. I guess the second bird has a cleaner and whiter neck lol.
Thank you my friend! It is hard to tell them apart in the separate photos. I think one's head is a little thinner than the other's. One is a little taller than the other but you can only see that when they stand next to each other.
I'm loving it!🤗
