PowerHouseCreatives Contest | Moving Into A New Place | A True Story
It's Christmas Week and I was surprised that we're still having #powerhousecreatives contest. I haven't been participating in the last couple weeks as I've just recently changed jobs.. Yeah ! Again; second time this year. So, when the theme for this week was Moving Into A New Place; it seems to be calling out to me.
Though the contest allows us to be creative and imaginative; for me I didn't need to. Moving Into A New Place happened to me TWICE this year.
2019 was a year of change; a year of movements; a year of adjustment; a year of adaptability
Moving myself from home sweet home in Malaysia where my husband & two boys were and making the decision to pack my bags and move into a different country was a BIG MOVE. If not for the support from everyone back home, I wouldn't be able to make this decision and move. That was 10 months and 3 weeks ago.
Like I said, I changed jobs twice this year, both was also located in Vietnam. Thankfully, the recent job changed was based in Saigon, a city which I truly enjoyed very much. A little bit like Kuala Lumpur & Singapore. And the home which the company provided me was a 60sqm two-bedroom apartment in District One, Saigon. Staying on the 2nd floor, I had a corner unit which was pretty good, a bit more privacy though when I open up the curtains, I could see the block next door. Sadly, that's how it is in Saigon, every building is next to one another.
Did you know that land value in this city is the highest in Asia Pacific; even higher than in Japan or Hong Kong ?
Good thing is that this new home was fully furnished as such there wasn't much I needed to purchase to make my stay here more at ease. As you can see, it is a fully functional and ready to move in and stay kind of home. Then again, it lacks the personality and emotions to go along in making this my home. Since I cannot change the colours on the wall or hang any posters around, I had to make do with it.
I didn't have much when I first arrived but there were some MUST HAVE to make this a home.
The strength and love from my family & Holy Mother
A journey that brought me closer to HIM
I know the true purpose of being here.. FOR HIM
I'm a fanatic when it comes to toiletries, I know
It's best to have two of each than none at all
Not as if I could find it all as easily as back home
And I miss all my books back home
Though I've not done much reading but the sight of these books
Makes me feel nerdy and intelligent
Oh yeah.. I brought many close to heart ingredients from home
I always believe at self prescribed medicine first
If that doesn't work, then it's to the hospital
Instant noodles, spices and sauces is a MUST
What we take for granted back home is not available here
And I'm not the only one who does this
Canned food.. of yes !
This is a MUST in so many situations
Slow cooker and Multi-Use Pot, call me insane
I am who I am, these are the only kitchen equipment I brought from home
Opps.. I was wrong, there is another :)
I've always enjoyed a fully equipped kitchen; that's because I enjoy cooking and baking. In this home, I'm glad that I have
Microwave oven | 2 door fridge | Water boiler
Toaster | Build in oven | Cooker hot plate | Cooker suction
In conclusion, this is a home which is more than what I can ask for. I have no complaints because it keeps me safe and I have my own privacy. I know it's only temporary but at least, it provides me comfort and I can be who I am in this 60 sqm apartment.
Would I need to change anything, I guess not since it's only temporary. But, I do add a bit of me; here and there...

OMG i can't believe you changed jobs again!! I'm sure its hard to move away from the boys but to change jobs AND move is stressful. I'm glad you bought stuff from home and the pots are the best things to take over honestly lol
Oh yes.. 2019 is a dramatic year for me.
Largest and most frequent change for me.
Anyhow, I learned to be stronger and patient here.
Form the way you show us in these photos, told us a lot about your personality.
Ha ha.. I'm sure you're impressed with my toiletry, instant noodle and can food stocks
Best of all, I saw the RM price tag. Now I know why godpa always go there, other than visit you he's the smuggle mule 😂
Ha ha...
It's so sad that you have to be away from your family to be able to have a good job. I hope that soon you will have a great job and also be with your family.
Thanks so much..
I'm looking forward to seeing them next month.
Counting the days :)
You did well Ireen @ireenchew to dress up your new temporary digs with many comforts of home.
Thanks so much @redheadpei...
Got to give myself some reflection and memory from home
You have had a wild year, @ireenchew. That sounds very challenging. I hope you are settled in for now and will be reunited with your family before too long. That must be very hard to be away from your boys!
Good luck in the contest. My entry will be posted shortly. Meanwhile, I am enjoying reading the other entries so far.
