Ulog 133: Kitchen In Disarray! OCD Be Warned!
I don't know about your home, but the kitchen in our home is the main hub for ALL activity; and I have been moving things, packing things up and getting it ready for a fresh look this week.
We have two handymen (who cleaned out our gutters last week and have done other various tasks around the home and homestead that I am either incapable of doing myself (can't climb ladders or get down from one) or that Mr Golden D doesn't have the time to do with his current work schedule.
The center ceiling in the room (as with all the rooms in our house) are about 14-feet at the highest point and I just can't do it. Nope... No sirree... ain't happening.
Having my kitchen disrupted, even if only for a few hours or half a day is enough to throw my OCD lifestyle upside-down, backwards and every which way.
- I have some of my every day seasonings in a box in the third bedroom.
- My utensils for cooking in the homesteading room on a table.
- The dog's dishes are in the master bathroom
- My new garden pantry shelf is pushed into the laundry room
- The kitchen island is loaded with the microwave, wall hangings and other decor
All I have left to do is move my work area (desk) into the main living room.
We've only been in this house for two-plus years and I knew from day one I wanted to paint the walls in the kitchen. The traditional double-wide mobile home wall paper is ugly as heck. We're changing it to a light beige; AKA Brazilian Hazelnut.
So this weekend while Mr Golden D wallows away at work, I will be moving things back into place, giving the counter tops, appliances, floor a good scrubbing, washing down the cupboards and hanging up some new wall decor that says farm-homestead kitchen.
I just hope I can keep my OCD in check for the next 24-48 hours!

Oh I know what you mean @goldendawne, I have serious issues with surface clutter. My kitchen is the one area I always clean right before bed, no clutter or miscelaneous "stuff" laying about. It will be fun to reorganize, plus with new paint, decor it will feel wonderful when it's done! Just keep breathing, lol you'll love it!
ABSOLUTELY!!! I'm anxious to get things back in order and all cleaned up. Even though we've only been here for over two years, it's going to feel fresh and new!
We do start with the bathroom renovation today. I do assume that it could take up to three weeks before we can take a shower again at our own house.
So I would prefer a bathroom over a kitchen :)
lol- yeah we're getting our second (smaller) bathroom painted too today. New light fixture but that's it in there. We rarely use that bathroom
