Our holiday chariot!

Travelling in Australia really means that you need a decent car with a touch more power than our humble Peugeot 107 shopping trolley! For the Southern portion of our Australian trip, we have hired this big car (yes yes, I'm really that bad at cars...)... I guess it is a 4fwd of some sort (SUV for the Americans...).
Anyway, compared to our shopping trolley, it has a great deal more space and power... We aren't losing speed as we go up hills!

Now, I'm a complete tech nerd... So I'm not usually out off by lots of gadgetry, but all of our cars have been completely low tech affairs. Minimal dials, winding up windows and doors that you have to hold up the handle to lock when you close the door! It's pretty hilarious, most prone struggle with our car until they remember how it used to work!
Of course, being back to front controls to the Netherlands, I've already done a few windscreen wipes instead of indicating...

A central screen for me is a bit weird, but cool! Of course, it is a bit too easy to get distracted by this so I'm making sure that only the passenger uses this! Pity the tech savvy guy is sitting in the driver's seat whilst the tech dunce is trying to operate the controls!
Having a rear camera be mirrored to this screen is super cool! Now I can watch the pedestrians scatter screaming behind me in real time as I reverse down a walkway!
Also, I've opened the door with the normal mechanical key... And then the car starts a countdown... And the stupid car case alarm goes off! WTF!

One really embarrassing thing that I had to run back into the hire car office to ask about was... Where the hell is the hand brake? Apparently, it is the little button there... I suspected it was the case, but it's good to be sure...

... However, I think I will stay clear of pressing this button... I'm not sure if I want to activate the crazy driving mode!

That's a very good ride actually, so easy and comfortable to drive for road trips.
We enjoyed it very much... it was a sad moment when we had to hand it back! But it isn't really the right fit for our normal lives.
Hahaha... Too bad.
Nice set off wheels
Teehee! Yes... but only temporary!
Our previous Renault also had a button to activate the automatic handbrake; I was terrified of using it in the beginning but loved it in the end as we have tons of steep hills and stops; what a pleasure not having to worry about the car rolling back on take off;)
Enjoy your travels @bengy!
It is pretty unnerving to have these things handled automatically... I am so used to manual gears still, so I still feel like the car is going to stall everytime I slow down and don't put down the clutch pedal!
Ours still had gears, it was just the handbrake that was automatic. I don't think I could ever get used to driving an automatic car, have been changing gears for way too long, I'd also be looking for the clutch pedal;);)
Is that a Mitsubishi Outlander? Cool I don't see those here in the Philippines. I don't think they released it here. Although the Montero Sport a mid sized SUV is racking up in sales here. People prefer the Mitsubishi here as it has so many features. Enjoy the travel.
To be honest, I have no idea what it was! I was pretty nice to drive though... although, that is more in comparison to a pretty low bar!

Just a standard vehicle over here 😉 Though I get around in a Prius which probably has just as much power as your Peugeot!

No, I think it would have much more power than our little shopping trolley! How is the hybrid though? We are considering it for the next time....
