Giving New Life to an Old Piece
How Do You Give New Life to an Old Piece ??
Sometimes I think just framing it will help, and it often does. But more recently, if you haven't noticed, I have been trying digital altercations. Just for fun mostly. I've noticed something though.. These new renderings of old work are very inspiring. They not only breathe a little new life into the painting or art piece, but also spark a little creativity within my mind. The gears start to move and I'm away thinking of how to make this idea a tangible one.
Today's Fun Having ..
Really got me thinking. I know that they make materials that will curl and crack a thin layer of paint, but I don't have any. I want to try this technique, but am also worried I will spend the money buying something I'll never use. I think when the time comes to spread this varnish over my piece, that I worked hard on, I will have second thoughts about it. So, I don't know if I will ever do it, but the idea is exciting. The funny thing is, this idea will spark my imagination and probably lead to something else. Another idea that will most likely be completely different than this one.
Has This Ever Happened To You??
This Is The New Rendering Of An Old Piece ..
The Original Piece ..
Is so old that I don't have a name for it. hehe.. I used the waxy type pastels.. oil pastels.. when creating the drawing/painting. This was my first piece using them. I had no clue on how to use them, and it's a shame that I never really did learn anything about them. The painting came out okay I guess, pretty one dimensional and basic, but a feel good piece non the less.
Why does this sail boat have its sail up in port?? Because I don't know a dang thing about sailing.. that's why! hehe. The whole picture is so weird to me and I think I have come a long way since creating this one. The one thing that I don't forget or discount is that we all have to start somewhere and it's nice to look back every once in a while to see how far we've come. It's nice to recognize our achievements and celebrate them.
So Why Alter My Past Creation ??
Simply put .. It's Fun!

About Me ~ The Artist
My art work incorporates a wide variety of subject matter, including landscape, seascape, cityscape, and still life images. My works are the product of a continuing process of exploration through which I seek to portray personal and visionary interpretations of my surroundings. My paintings are impressions of places and events from everyday life, an interpretation of my imagination, and personal responses to what I see and feel on a daily basis. More recently I have invested generous amounts of time into my landscape painting. I am surrounded by natural and man made beauty, which inherently presents itself in the tri-state area, and almost demands that I paint it.
Not everything is art. Art is not everything, but it comes close. Art is everywhere and all the time. Art makes you experience the beauty of the world, the people in it, and the places we call home. Art itself is so influential that it can tell stories, show feelings, and express passion or fury. Art exists in addition to language; expression of sensations and thoughts, revealing a way of thinking too subtle and delicate for words.
For me art requires love, honesty and perseverance. In return, it reveals some personal, non-analyzable, and creative untamed passion. For the public, art with its magnificent beauty, improves mood and health and builds better human beings and communities. It engages the intellect, softens the heart, strengthens the soul and frees the spirit.
looks very original!
That it does.. better than the original for sure.
