POST CALL | A Community Initiative Designed To Make Sharing And Discovering New Posts Easier

Happy new year everyone. I'd like to start my 2018 off by proposing an idea to you all that'll help you to share and discover new great content.

I love finding new authors and rewarding them for their great content but sometimes I find it hard, not because of the website itself, but because a lot of my time on Steemit is spent reading, researching and writing posts. Add to that all the other things that life throws at you and sometimes I find myself with very little time left to look for new content.

So, the idea is simple. Its called Post Call and is a weekly community-wide initiative aimed at helping new and old Steemians with both content discovery and post promotion by giving everyone the chance to share/find new content with/from people you wouldn't normally come across.

All you need to do is post a weekly summary of some of your own posts from the last 7 days and tag it postcall. That's it. The idea then is when someone finds your post, either organically or through the postcall tag, they can leave a link, with a brief summary, to one of their own posts in the comments. They may then wish to follow on the idea at a later date with a Post Call of their own.

Benefits both minnows and whales

It's great for minnows because it allows them to place a link to one or more of their posts in the comment section of your posts in the hope of getting noticed, and without fear of being told off or flagged. Minnows and new Steemians can sometimes find it hard to get noticed by their peers and other community members so having a post from a more established Steemian that they can share a post to would be a great chance for them to gain a bit more exposure and a few extra votes.

A lot of established users are already pretty busy across Steemit running bots, trading and renting SP, managing and moderating various communities and projects, and generally being outstanding ambassadors for the platform. So it's a quick and easy way for whales and other Steemians who have been on the platform for a while to discover and reward new and original content

It not only lets people share links to their posts without being frowned upon, it also allows the author of the Post Call to share as many of their posts as they want too. I see this initiative not only as a way of helping to bridge the gap between minnows and whales but also between the different communities across Steemit as well. Another potential benefit I see for using a common unified tag such as 'postcall' is that we could end up with less spam and flagging under the rest of our posts.

If you wanted to you could narrow down the types of posts you'd like people to share with you by giving your *Post Call a theme or topic (eg, politics, photography, technology, dogs, etc). Saying that, there are benefits to posting a General Post Call as it's very likely someone will drop a link in your comments to something you find cool or interesting, or to something you would've never normally thought to search for.

The idea originally came from Twitter (example above) where one person will tweet out a list of links to their best tweets of the week and other Twitter users will link their best tweets in the replies. Any tweets the person who put the original tweet call out likes get retweeted. This method of discovery is particularly effective for smaller accounts as it gives them the chance to get seen and retweeted by bigger, more popular accounts.

Now, I expect from time to time you'll probably get sent a bunch of junk by some freeloaders looking for a free vote, but I think on the whole most people will respect the initiative and will get to know the kind of post that interest you. Anyway, people that spam are people that will spam you anyway regardless of a Post Call or not.

This is meant to be an easy stress free way for you to find and share new content on Steemit, so there's no harm in keeping your Post Call simple and to the point.

As you see it's not a revolutionary idea, in fact its much like a competition but without a prize. But the idea isn't for people to write posts specifically for a Post Call, it's simply just another way for people to share and discover posts.

Summary

  • Step 1

Write a post listing some or all of your own posts from the last week, and include a brief summary of them. Maybe if your Post Call is themed you could write a little something about why you picked your particular theme alongside your post summary and links.

  • Step 2

Use 'postcall' as your main tag. It would also be helpful to use Post Call in the title somewhere too. Then post it.

  • Step 3

Wait for people to share there content with you and then upvote, resteem, and follow them how ever you wish. Just as importantly, don't forget to say hi.

  • Step 4 (Optional)

Search the postcall tag to find and interact with other Post Calls. You may even get a chance to share a link or 2 to some of your own posts too.

That's it. This is my idea that I thought could help people to discover and share new and interesting content. I hope I haven't gone on and complicated things to much. It would be great to get some feedback so please feel free to leave any comments or questions below.

So what can you look forward to from me at the beginning of 2018.

  • A deep dive in to the Uranium One scandal.

For the last few months I have been researching the Uranium One scandal Hillary Clinton's been embroiled in recently. It has taken me across the globe and has led me to some interesting and shady characters in the energy business. In my upcoming series of posts I shall be unraveling the time line of events and reveling exactly who was involved in the deal.

  • History of the Deepstate

I shall also be posting part 2 of my in depth look at history of the deepstate. In part 1 we looked at the Society of the Cincinnati and the role they played in the creation of the United States. In part 2 I shall bring us up to date and find out what they're up to, and where they are now.

  • Competitions

I shall also be running a new regular competition where you could win yourself some personalized animated gifs.

  • Wikileaks

We're expecting to see a lot more from Wikileaks this year so I shall make sure to keep you up-to-date on all the news surrounding Wikileaks and Vault 7 publications.

@fortified
A great initiative and I will certainly be posting a post call as I find it difficult (being new) to get my stuff seen and considered.
Grateful for the support!
Happy to discuss certain geo-political issues with you at some point if interested? I’m well placed in “real life”.
