Mid-air — My Portraitcontest Week #109 Entry #1

One of the most challenging events for me to shoot was a badminton competition held in a hall not well lit. And the players were moving pretty fast. Excellent practice for shooting sports, though. I hope you enjoy the results.

Here's one:

That is amazing, @manoldonchev. Every line is crisp. It is as if she was able to hover just a moment in the air for you to capture that shot. Well done!

This shot is amazing. I'm definitely going to be asking you for pointers. Any advice for Christmas lights?

Well, LED lights can be nice tools. I, personally, prefer keeping them out of focus and using them for the bokeh effect. further back from my subject. They usually need high ISO settings in the dusk and darker conditions.

Oh that's a really neat idea....do the opposite and make them out of focus. I need to get some object or model now and try.

Some people wrap their models in them — they expose the lamps properly and te skin remains dark-ish, lit here and there... That's another popular way of using those lights.

Wow sounds neat.
I am more of a landscape photographer. Maybe I will try people soon. But I don't have so many friends who like their photos taken and especially shared online.

First I should try to have my wife stand in front of the lights, before I convince her to allow me to wrap her in Christmas lights and take photos.
