There is a modern myth that you can’t have a nice bokeh if you don’t have an expensive “master” lens… Well, that is not quite correct…
By the definition, Bokeh is “the aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of-focus parts of an image produced by a lens”. The truth is that EVERY lens can produce a blur at certain conditions, and you have to know how to set up your photo to get a nice bokeh even from a kit lenses. Here is an example.
If you have a lens with slow maximum aperture, you have to adapt to the situation. The best way is to secure a large space behind your model. Only then you can see how your lens is rendering that blur.
