7-Day Black and White Photo Challenge - Day 6

in #portmantuesdays7 years ago (edited)

What's a man to do when he's nominated by the wonderful @dreemit to a 7-day Black and White Challenge? I don't think there's anything else one can do but say "I accept," so I did. Gladly, I might add! :D

So, without further ado, here is my entry for today:

day6

Usually, this is the part where I write a long explanation or I write a (relatively) short story to complement the photo, but this time I won't ;) As to why, I won't even bother to explain... or maybe I will haha!

Here are the rules:

  • 7 black & white images that represent an aspect of your life (makes sense)
  • Present one image every day for seven days (as expected)
  • No people (I can live with that)
  • No explanation (whew!)
  • Nominate someone every day. Although anyone can join in, be sure to use the tag: #sevendaybnwchallenge as one of your five (do I have to?)

If you want to join in on the fun, let me know in the comments section! As for my nomination for today, drumroll please...

Nice shot. It could be any time, so it's also out of time.

Thanks for the nomination! I'm sure I can find a few good pics! :D

Great perspective! It could be!

You're one of the people here that I feel go under the radar, considering you're one of the most genuine people I've met here. I'm certainly excited to see what you come up with, so definitely link me to it if a day has gone without my comment on it, no matter where you decide to upload the pics ;)

Hmm. Purgatory. The scene ostensibly shows a pleasant seating area. Views of the sea and the essence of summer holiday. Of course it is an illusion. The limp flags and the shrouding mist show us that all is not as it seems. Where are the merry tea partakers? Absent. All that is evident here is loss and disillusionment.

Ah yes. Powerful work.

Once again, you prove to have a direct line to my thoughts, Boomsday! I would tell you to get out, but you're my brother stuck in a different bodega after all, so I'll permit you to stay. You saw right through my carefully crafted facade. This is indeed a scene from my New Year's Eve story that I linked to you a while back. "Loss and Disillusionment" was the title of this piece when I put it up in the Louvre some years ago. I had it taken down because of my own disillusionment.

I'm glad that you're life was shaken to its core upon gazing upon its greatness. It truly is the intention.

I have been shaken so much that I suspect people will soon realise that I am nothing but a collection of tectonic plates rubbing against one another

I'm sure that if and when they realize it, they would love you all the same. I mean, I've had my suspicions, which were only now just confirmed, and even though I was hesitant at first, I still view you the same way, even if every movement of yours registers in the Richter scale.

I am just big boned sob!

Woah woah woah! Easy there big guy! I just felt the whole building shake!

Looks like a pretty nice spot to hang out, if you like foggy weather :D Is that fog or rain or just overcast? And is there usually something over the top or is the wooden rafter look some new architectural fashion? Do people regularly ask if you come here often? XD

goatsig

The black and white nature of the photo betrays me haha! There wasn't actually a fog, but there was a slight overcast. As much as I want to say more, I feel like I shouldn't answer any of your questions, mate! I have already lifted the veil with regard to the fog, so I won't deny you of the mystery haha!

But, I will say this, since you explained your own photo. This was taken after a SCUBA dive, so my vision was equally foggy from the salt water haha! I'm sure you'll be able to put the pieces back from that ;)

There is something ominous and eerie about black and white photos with an absence of human presence. Nice capture bro

I know, right? Gives a whole new meaning apart from its colored counterparts. With the absence of color, viewers are forced to focus on the composition of the whole piece, so that's an added bonus right there. Thanks for stopping by!

You're most welcome bro, I try when I can. I could definitely paint some dark fiction to an image like this :)

I was careful in choosing all the images I posted. I made sure that I'm able to write up a good story to complement them if it came to that haha!

Yeah great idea. I usually write my poems first then add gifs. But when I’m lost, I find a gif first then build my text around it and cater to it :) we are prossssss

We are pros indeed!

That patio area looks like one that I've been to in Cebu.

This was actually taken in Batangas, but I bet Cebu has nice resorts as well. I see you haven't started with your B&W pics haha!

I can't do B&W pictures. I'm just glad to take a picture and get it transferred to my computer and then to a post. I don't think I can deal with having to decolor a photo.

That's sad to hear, man. In any case, if you ever decide to, feel free to send me the colored version and I'll desaturate it for you.

The scent of the sea must be rejuvenating there after you come there through the city smog?

Definitely! I actually live on the coast, so the sight of the sea is an everyday thing for me.

Lucky you!

It has its moments. During the stormy season, we're the first to get flooded though so there are definitely downsides.

Looks like vacation.....looks a bit cloudy and I feel a chill is in the air (or maybe that is just because I am always cold). You definitely have an alcoholic beverage in your hand....

The B&W betrays me haha! It was overcast that day, but not too foggy or anything. I had just finish a SCUBA dive, and my vision was indeed foggy. You're right on the money with the alcoholic beverage though! Slept like a pig until the very next day haha! I explained too much.

SCUBA diving gives me the heeby jeebies; I do swim in the ocean but I'm not a fan of it lol too many unknown big things.

I grew up near water, so I guess that's an advantage. It's quite surreal though, being under the water at that depth. I have to admit that it's quite claustrophobic down there, so I don't blame you. Really though, it's a means to an end for me in my quest to gaze upon the great Cthulhu.

lol, well if you find him it was nice knowing you....

If I do find him and he's awake, it was nice knowing everybody haha! I'm sure Cthulhu will spare no one. He's a big supporter of equality after all.

After waiting for hours I went to the bar and ordered an olive martini.

Unfortunately, the barkeep told me that they were out of olives, so I clenched my fist and pounded it on the counter top.
