Proposals to arm village officials to fight drugs and crime and priests to defend themselves are projecting a state of lawlessness and government failure to protect citizens, Vice President Leni Robredo said.
According to our Vice President Ms. Leni Robredo, Proposals to arm village officials to fight drugs and crime and priests to defend themselves are projecting a state of lawlessness and government failure to protect citizens. In regards to that statement, I don't think that the proposal in allowing to arm village officials like the barangay captain is already a state of lawlessness since they are also a government official. If it will be approved, it doesn't mean that any village officials can easily have a firearm without proper supervision. They must still have a license for them to carry these weapons and the same goes for the priests. In addition to that, if there will be illegal killings that will occur then due process must be served whether he is a village official or a priest.
