The Prime Minister's Car Auction

The Car Auction :

There were 102 cars on the fleet of the previous Prime Minister, with luxury cars including the Protected which means it is bullet and bomb proof, two Mercedes Maybach s600, 17 Mercedes s-300's,s-500's and s-600's both protected and unprotected. Three BMW 760-Li and three BMW X5 series both ofcourse protected. Many land cruisers V8 and Corolla's, including models of Honda car's. The list is quite long. There is also a Mercedes Benz stretched limousine. These were the royalties given to I can imagine a dictator of a rich oil producing country but in actuality these were cars for a Prime Minister whose country men can't get access to clean water in parts of the country. The economy is in shatters and the IMF debts are increasing daily with forced taxes on the working class the only solution. Nonetheless Imran Khan held the auction on 17 September in which 61 cars were sold bringing in a profit of 280 Million Rupees, these were some expensive cars.

The Luxuries of a PM :

This doesn't just end here there are 8 helicopters out of which 4 are running and 4 are on stand-by. I mean how much can you travel on a daily basis there are plans being made to reduce the quantity to two helicopters and sell the rest. There are even 8 cows on the PM house the only purpose for these were to provide milk fof his majesty PM Nawaz who is in jail at the moment. The audacity of these people to turn the hard working citizens tax money to be used in such a way. Then we cry why hasn't the country flourished despite so much potential it is because of corrupt politicians like Nawaz Sharif.

The Prime minister house itself is a palace with almost 60,000 Sq yards in area it is like a world of it's own compared to the 500 sq yards house with three rooms the current PM is living in, you do the math. Up until now it was closed for media to document and public to see but now Imran Khan has opened it for everyone with plans to make it an educational institute. It certainly has the space and rooms to provide such a facility, The interior looks as if you have entered a turkish Palace with bright tiles and exotic chandeliers all across rooms. There are three rooms to visit the PM, what even one is a waiting room and the other two are for foreign delegates and local ministers. There was a media room as big as a university auditorium in which the PM never even once held a conference. A new chamber for minister to sit and hve a meeting was completed by the previous PM because the previous chamber was a two minute walk. The utter disbelief and anger with which I am writing this is uncomparable. In addition there were 567 servants for just the Prime minister and his family. For almost 6 person there were so many servants almost a 100 person for each family member.The Annual expense of the Prime minister house was 881 million rupees in 2016 The budget of a house is comparable to a budget of almost a city in the country. These were our elected politicians giving their all for the prosperity of Pakistan.

The Rant is because before this Government nobody cared for these kinds of matters. Their supporters used to say if even he does corruption he builds roads and mass transport. What kind of an argument is that. Our generation choosed to elect a party with credentials and merit. The Prime Minister is delivering his promise to solve the integrity of a common mans tax money. I was shocked to hear that the last delegation of the UN was of 72 person with all their expenses. The current delegation consists of 4 people only related to the matters of the country not on a foreign vacation.

Wow, it looks like there was a lot of expense gone to serving the last set of politicians. Hopefully the money finds it's way to projects that bolster and grow the country.

That is the aim right now the previous PM and his family are on trial and given 10 million pounds fine hope the money comes and is invested in projects of Pakistan

Geez, if these stats and photos don't show "corruption", not much will!!

I'm hoping that the new government continues to be transparent and use tax money wisely. Such a shame how much this happens around the world, isn't it?!

I'm quite optimistic with the new government as to how they will use the national treasury.

That's good to hear @shaheerbari! I'm so glad and hopeful then too :)

Wow sounds like your former PM was more of a dictator. Very eye opening. To live in such excess when as you put it people don't even have clean water. I will never understand that mentality. Wonder what his life is going to be like now?

Yep that is the downside of capitalism the rich take advantage of opportunities while the poor suffer.

The sad part is, being from the most capitalist country our president does not have anything of that sort. The White House is minimal compared to what you have shown. Yes, the government had a fleet of cars nothing of that caliber they are more sensible. Yes there are 3 version of Air Force One and there are a couple of version of the presidential helicopter. They are all deployed so that a decoy is in play for safety reasons. Now our current president, his own collection of 'things' is the epitome of capitalism.
I agree though if the rich actually put some of their money to use in legitimate means those that suffer in poverty and being poor due to economic reasons a lot of the problems would be resolved.

That is the biggest argument we have going on right now. Our country is actually split on this issue. If the government were to step in on healthcare then for some reason they think we'd be socialists. Yet we have government backed housing. In most cases for the 'poor' government back medical. It's people like me and my friends where we don't have enough money to pay basic bills, we do without extras. Yet my pay and bills in some other part of the world would make them very rich.

I truly hope the funds they gain from the sale of the excesses are used to help your people, to make living better.

@shaheerbari,

What this article illustrates is not "capitalism." It illustrates "theft and corruption." Capitalism does not promote, nor tolerate, either. It was Lord Acton of Britain, a capitalist country, who penned, "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

You ex-PM wasn't a "captain of industry" ... he was a "thief in the night."

And thank God he's in jail.

Thank you for this informations.
There are sadly same situation in many undeveloped countries.
We shall be aware that greed can make us mad to this extreme. Only protection is obedience to GOD.

@shaheerbari,

This is astonishing. It redefines the word "corruption."

Winston Churchill once said, "People get the government they deserve." Where was the Pakistani Press ... the Opposition parties ... the electorate? This ought to be a humiliation for the entire country.

Because this was such a good article and there are 3 days left until post payout, I would suggest making a couple of slight modifications:

  1. There are a couple of typos (misspelled words).
  2. Inform the reader earlier that your country is Pakistan.
  3. Change the title to: Corruption: The Prime Minister of Pakistan's Obscene Car Auction.

Other than that, very well written. Nicely done.

I found this article via @pifc's "Pimp It" project.
