thats not new...
plus people have been disengaaged from there best interests in politics and bandwagoning at elections going back to greeks and romans.
The reason for the electoral college is remove the people who think wrestling is real.
Unfortunately with the help of a foreign power they were able to weaponize micro-targeted advertising to just barely suppress enough voters to take the election.
Wars and uncivility towards fellow man has always been... and it ebbs and flows ... but the converse of peace and prosperty have more people looking for it in much much larger numbers!
