House Resolution 109 and Climate Change

in #politics5 years ago

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the young freshman Democratic Representative from New York has introduced House Resolution 109 to combat climate change. This resolution if adopted would force on us the New Green Deal eliminating the use of fossil fuels including the use of airplanes over a 10 year period. The Green New Deal goes on to push for the elimination of anything that produces green house gases from our agricultural system. Not only would this eliminate the use of tractors to plant and harvest food for our country and parts of the rest of the world, it also would ban the raising of livestock to produce meat and theoretically chicken farms that produce eggs. Not even an egg to go on your salad, we'll all be vegans.

But this resolution isn't about climate change, it's about replacing our current system of government with socialism. In order to help the population adjust to the changes imposed on us, the plan is to implement free college education, free single payer health care, and a guaranteed government job making a living wage. We'll all be good little socialist vegans.

As a conservative, I have nothing against vegans. I have no desire to force them eat any animal products. It's their life and their body, they can choose any diet they want. Just leave my eggs and bacon breakfast not to mention my pork or beef dinner alone.

All this to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide and other green house gases in the atmosphere that is forcing the temperature of the planet to rise to a point we will not be able to survive. We've all heard about fake news, it's one of Trump's favorite subjects to tweet about. Well, this is fake science.

Real scientists have been able to analyze ice core samples and reconstruct the temperature and carbon dioxide content in the atmosphere over the past 420,000 years. They do this by drilling deep into glaciers and removing the ice core samples. The samples are able to be dated and analyzed to construct this data. The most famous of this type of data is called Vostok Ice Core data and when the temperatures over the past 420,000 years is plotted it looks like this:

You can see for most of the time earth is a much colder place, these periods are known as glacial periods (ice ages) with the peaks being referred to as inter-glacial periods. The section in the red box toward the upper right had portion of the graph is our current, or relatively current, time frame of 11,000 years. Looking at the temperatures and carbon dioxide levels during this time you get the following graph.

Pay particular attention to the height and width of the previous inter-glacial periods. You'll notice that previous periods were hotter than in our current inter-glacial period and man (of some sort) was able to survive these temperatures. Looking at the width you see that our current inter-glacial period is about as wide as the previous ones indicating it's probably going to end at some point and the glaciers will come back.

Looking closer and the last 11,000 years you see:

From this graph you see the carbon dioxide level has been increasing for almost 7000 years, long before the creation of the internal combustion engine and the industrialization of our civilization. Again take note of the height of the recent peaks in temperature, they are getting smaller. This could also indicate the current inter-glacial period is coming to an end.

One of the most telling graphs occurs when you superimpose the temperature and carbon dioxide data on the same graph:

Look at how the carbon dioxide levels rise and fall after the temperature. Carbon dioxide levels are not driving changes in temperature, it's just the opposite. Analysis of this data shows a lag of 800 years between changes in temperature and changes in carbon dioxide levels. Climate change experts looking at carbon dioxide increases over the last 150 or 200 years can't see the real pattern.

The real villains of today are not green house gases but those perpetuating this hoax. The most villainous are Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the 68 cosponsors of House Resolution 109. These people are striving to end our current way of life based on a hoax to satisfy their own political ambition. It's often said that Trump's "Make America Great Again" campaign wants to take us back to the 1950's. Well, the New Green Deal wants to take us back to somewhere in the 1800's. The elections in 2020 are still a long way off but it will be the next chance we get to remove these 69 members of the House of Representatives along with some of their cohorts in the Senate from office. Excellent article, as always, Mike. Did you see L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti is planing to forge ahead with the Green New Deal?...lol...As if the same greenies cheering for it now won't be throwing rotten tomatoes at city hall three days after the power goes out...

I didn't see that but it doesn't surprise me. Actually it's not a bad idea for this to be tried on a relatively small scale to establish that it will not work. I do wonder where he will be getting the money from.

You might be onto something. Sacrifice one city to save a country...?

I'd be willing to sacrifice the whole state of California myself.

Yes, but only with a GUARANTEED outcome of a restored Republic for the rest of the country run by WE THE PEOPLE.

Not holding my breath....lol...

The last I heard was that California was going to be asking other states if it was ok for them to succeed from the Union, I would certainly give them my blessings and wish them on the way. My opinion is they need the U.S. more than we need them. If they want to destroy themselves, let them have at it.

I don't think the constitution provides a way for a state to leave the republic but there may be some early laws that allow it with the approval with a certain percentage of other states agreeing. Somewhere in the system there is a method for succession.

It would be interesting to watch the Democratic Socialist Nation of California as they grow. Who knows, you, I and a lot of other people could be wrong and they will become an amazingly prosperous country. Personally, I just can't see it happening.

Well, the chances of socialism working in a State like California with such sharp divisions in language, culture, etc, are slim to none, IMHO-- especially given that it has failed everywhere else.

And, no, The Civil War ended the concept of a "right of secession" even though I agree the South had the right to try it.
