Purdue University Teaching Guide Says to Remove All "MAN" Words from Being Used
I just watched a video that appeared on my Facebook feed, shared by someone I follow. It's by Tucker Carlson of Fox News, who is interviewing a woman talking about a new initiative by Purdue University's online writing and grammar resource to stop the use of words that have "MAN" in them. The writing guide is apparently teaching people how not to offend others.
This is all in an effort to prevent people from getting offended because they have an issue with the sequence of letters "man" appearing in certain words, or other words that have masculine markers.
"Man" is associated with adult men only now it seems, and not humanity in general. Eliminating that word would make the world "so much better" and people would be less offended, they say. Having the letters "man" in a word is apparently sexist.
Words like "mailman", "man-made", "businessman", "chairman", and "mankind" are viewed as sexist. Mailman would be replaed by mailperson, just like Justin Trudeau said corrected a women who said "mankind" and said we should use the word "personkind" instead.
Manhattan, Manchester, and other cities might also be targeted. Stores like Goldman Sachs also are at issue.
You can't prevent everyone from being offended. There is no right to not be offended in life. Telling someone something they don't want to hear, like an uncomfortable truth, can offend them.
So, what, are we going to be prevented from speaking the truth about something because it might offend someone?

For many decades there has been an attack on the male genders to diminish his significance. You can see this in shows like the Family Guy and Simpsons have shown the man as dumb and stupid. While the female gender has for decades been elevated. This is just another effort by the socialist liberal universities to neuter the population. This is also an attack on the family to minimize the role of papa bear.IF THEY can eliminate the power of papa bear they can continue to eliminate the value of the family. The 'It takes a village' people are part of this effort. In the 1950's FATHER KNOW'S BEST was the mentality. In the 1970's it was the Mary Tyler Moore / Helen Reddy Idea of I am woman. Today we have added the neutralizing factor with the transsexuals and every other combination. We are so afraid to offend. Political correctness is a weapon of the socialists. I say to them quit crying and pull up your damn diapers.
Yup :) Control the use of words and you control how people use words to reflect reality, hence paramount to controlling reality.

I'm curious how these absolute dolts, these sjw gender obsessed "people" is that still an acceptable word? would get by in spanish speaking countries where nearly everything has feminine and masculine connotations.

I do not even know why the SJWs have such a hate on for the word man. Man has always meant all of mankind, AND men, in general. Whereas women has only referred to women. No chances of miscommunication. So, women have had the best of both worlds. And, now they think that is unacceptable?
I wonder if we will get to a place of labelling things by actual gender.
Where man-made, means made by a man. (and woman-made by a woman) And we see man-made on everything (housing, lighting, furniture, produce), and woman-made on basically only decorative items.

In the last proposal I wrote, I have been asked to replace 'manpower' by the more politically correct wording 'human resources'. Although I understand the concern, I think this is not where we should fight first.
In my opinion, we need to address the problem directly at its roots. It is sufficient to visit the toy department of any shop and compare the 'toys for boys' from the 'toys for girls' option. This actually also applies to clothes shop as well...
