The great things in life DON'T come from government

in #politics8 years ago

I find the free market very interesting. Every day I see how businesses are able to innovate and scale products and services at inexpensive costs. Companies like Uber revolutionized the ride-sharing market and at the same time made taxi services obsolete. Uber is convenient, less expensive, and sometimes has more amenities than a cab. Cab companies felt it was unfair that Uber drivers didn't have to purchase medallions from the government to be allowed to drive.

There's a market for it

Another company like Airbnb made traveling easier. Now people can rent out their homes and apartments, as a result travelers have less expensive options and homeowners can make extra money. This upset the hotel industry because they thought it was unfair that Airbnb hosts didn't have to pay the taxes associated with renting living space. In San Francisco, the government worked with Airbnb to pass regulations on Airbnb which has made it extremely difficult to rent legally. The government is known to make things more complicated and less efficient. Luckily, San Francisco isn't the world and the majority of people still receive great benefits from Airbnb. When I traveled through Europe, Airbnb cut my costs significantly. This clearly demonstrates how government interventions provide low-quality service at high costs.

Schools

I found some interesting information in another area of the economy, education. Private schools are able to raise money without government funding by thinking outside the box. There are two old mansions in San Francisco that were converted into private schools. During the week in the mornings, students fill up the classrooms. At night and on weekends the school is used for private events like weddings and parties. The school is able to pay their teachers very well and provide the best education for their students. This is done without any government funding and doesn't take money out of the tax payer's pocket. The problem with private schooling is that it is too expensive for the average family. The reason is, the federal government took monopoly control and pumps money into public education, which limits the ability for schools to compete. We give way too much federal money to schools.

Government overreach

We need to remove the federal government from education and bring it back to the local level. This will create more competition between the states and we will see better quality education and cheaper cost. When education is local, parents are able to have more control over their child's education. The costs would drastically reduce and so will the tax burden. When we remove the federal government from education, The Federal Reserve will no longer have to print money to provide college loans. The cost of tuition will have no other option but to drop when the loan program is stopped. The loans that the government provides are directly related to the inflated cost of college. Before the government was involved, college students were able to pay by just working a summer job. College was affordable, but not only that, not everyone went. A lot of specialty jobs would use apprenticeships to train people in important trades like plumbing, mechanics, and carpentry. Every since these loans were provided more kids waste money on worthless degrees. When they get out of college, they can't find a job.

Remove control

There is only one solution. Remove the federal government's ability to regulate the economy, healthcare, agriculture, media, and all other areas that intrude on our personal lives. The free market is able to find the best solutions to the toughest problems. Politicians don't know anything about these subjects. The only thing politicians know is how to get big corporate donors to write the laws. This is impeding our ability to make our own choices. If you ask who will make sure things are safe, private businesses will build trust with the people. If a business can't get benefits from the government, they are forced to compete by providing the best products at cheapest cost. If people receive bad products or services they then have the right to go to a competitor. It's proven multiple times over, private companies run their businesses more efficiently than politicians run the government.

Wait, you mean we shouldn't be worshiping the government and looking to them to solve all of our problems?

Lol exactly. It should be easy to understand considering we've heard about the tyranny of government throughout history. I don't understand how someone could think government is beneficial when history proves otherwise.

Yeah, I kind of slept through that class. I'm more concerned about the future, not what some old, dead guys did back in the day. History should stay in the past anyway...
