CNN has to eat crow by reporting Trump and Putin reach Syria deal. BTC and crypto prices drop

in #politics7 years ago

I rarely read or watch CNN.  The exception is during airport transits when no one will let me control the Off button.

But I broke that rule and went to checkout CNN today to see how they reported on the Trump-Putin meeting.

Although I am sure it made them sick to their stomach, they mostly had nice things to say in their report.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/07/07/politics/trump-putin-meeting/index.html

They weren't perfect of course.   They had to insert at least one lie into their report.

The lie they went with: "Trump has championed more protectionist policies as President."

Let's use one of the more reliably straight shooters from the MSM for reference material to show why I called out CNN as liars.

The Economist refers to the Trump trade policy as "a policy of reciprocity".

https://www.economist.com/news/briefing/21721935-idea-reciprocity-animates-white-houses-view-trade-what-donald-trump-means-fair

When Trump refers to "fair trade", his meaning is reciprocal trade.

"In the best case, the threat of a reciprocal tax or tariff might force another country or countries to lower their tariffs. Perhaps Mr Trump could squeeze the tariff on car imports to China, currently 25%, down to the level on car imports in America, currently 2.5%, on the back of a credible threat to abandon the WTO. It could work to clamp down on common gripes about, for example, China’s habit of dumping its excess capacity on global markets."

If you think it is reasonable and reciprocal that China charges a tariff on car imports of 25%, while the US charges a tariff on car imports of 2.5%, that makes you a Liberal from the left. I question your logic and your motivations.

If you think that the current tariffs on car imports are not reciprocal, and therefore the US is justified in demanding improved reciprocity and a better deal from China on this topic, that makes you a Trump supporter. And someone who uses logic.

President Trump is using the bully pulpit to press for reciprocity on a broad range of topics. Car imports was just an example.

Reciprocity is not protectionism.

CNN lied.   Fake news.   Again !!

I always wanted to go to a car show in China.

But back to the main point.

The Trump Putin meeting went reasonably well.  They made practical positive progress on real world issues.  Geo-political tensions have eased slightly, by one or two notches, since the meeting.

And across the board the cryptos are down.  2% or 3% if you are BTC or LTC.  More than 9% if you are STEEM.

I was looking for and believe I found confirmation of my thesis from a previous post.  There is a correlation between crypto prices and the general level of geo-political tensions and anxiety.

Let's see what happens to crypto pricing after the meeting with Xi Jinping.

Additional confirmation?

Or my thesis will be dashed on the rocks of a cause and effect fallacy that had me confused?

Cnn always do shit like this

They were a more reasonable straight up news organization when they started. That was a long time ago.

Not really, it's just Friday...and 3rd weekend in a row where we see drops...
Shooting will not stop, just cuz Trump and Putin agree it should...

If the week-end is a predictor of drops, that can be turned into a sure fire way to make profits. I'm thinking drops on week-ends are more a coincidence, as opposed to casual explanation

Hahahhahaha, it just a weekend drop like always, dont try to be too smart.

What is your theory on week-end drops? What could possibly cause that? If it was proven true, and since cryptos trade 24*7, why wouldn't people sell on Friday and buy back on Saturday to make guaranteed profit?
