Libertarians Flocking Toward Alt Right (Mostly Gamers)
I wrote this in response to a piece I found in twitter about 2000s early internet culture surrounding New Atheism and Libertarianism and how that movement basically got intercepted by the rise of fascism.

Such a good article. As someone who used to be a hardcore libertarian, it's scary how easy alt right shithead was coming up on me and it was hard to snap out of it but I'm glad I did before it was too late!
Two major concepts at play are:
people dont like changing their minds and admitting they are wrong
the sense of comfy nostalgia that Gaming and YouTubers give to people to prevent unbiased introspection
People love to be ""RIGHT"" and are blinded by bias because their icons are all doing the same stuff and they have irrational love for them based on when they first found their stuff or joined a game community and stuff of that sort.
There's also a reason that 99.9% of """libertarians""" are cis het white men who feel like they're constantly being attacked for their whitenessand it's definitely because they associate their rung on the ladder of social hierarchy with default or fairness, when in reality they're just benefitting from a broken system.
