Setting The Precedent With Draconian Measures

The outbreak of the virus has placed the world in a unique situation we've never faced in the modern era and panic has set in through the help of governments around the world. Plenty of cities are now opting to shut down, reduce travel, keep people inside, close institutions, ban gatherings and even having curfew with a military presence.
What's scary is the amount of support for these measures by the general public, I get it we're scared, we're thinking about our lives and not thinking rationally and this fear is driving us to willingly give up our freedom of movement and earning your own keep.
This dependency on government to me has far-reaching implications we're not thinking about, it shows how quickly we are willing to give up our freedoms and rely on a central body out of fear. Regardless if we know these centralised institutions are corrupt to the core and responsible for far more pain and death than his virus has caused and ever will cause.
From Corona to Controller
The fact that people in power can now see what it takes to corral the people means they can now replicate these sorts of measures and make it seem normal. What is stopping them from slowly stripping our freedoms by saying it's in our interest?
I've heard talk of removing cash because it can pass on viruses, what a load of horse shit and even if it is, I'm willing to take the risk. I'd die for the privacy of my transactions and to opt-out of any tracking.
Once a "vaccine" is created what's stopping them from turning it into a profit machine and sucking the public dry through more panic buying and shaming those who would rather opt to build up immunities naturally?

Papering over the cracks of privlege
I realise this is an unpopular opinion but could the better option be that this should be a shock to the system for the individual to realise they need to look after themselves, stop living on sugary shit food, stop smoking, living healthier lives and build up their immune system?
No, we would rather opt for the comfort of our homes shoving Doritos down our throats and drinking sugary drinks and other carcinogens and breathing shit air and then hoping daddy government will sort it out.
Yes this is a public health issue, yes this is a financial issue, but what no one is talking about is that this is also a freedom issue.

In the US, I'm bracing for becoming the new Italy in a couple of weeks, with a mother in her 70's and in-laws in their 80's just a quick drive down I-75 from the idiot carefree millenials/iGens at Spring Break in Florida quietly but undoubtedly spreading this and other pathogens.
The draconian measures emperically seem to be working in China, and reacting slowly has empirically been disastrous in Italy, which is where the US seems destined to be headed.
I'd believe the conspiracy theory that the draconian shutdowns are a ploy to consolidate power, except that the biggest fault of our usually faux-despotic and power-overreaching President has been failure to react quickly enough.
In any other context I'd have a huge problem with starving small businesses and sitting at home making Amazon, YouTube and Netflix even richer. But based on the advice of actual experts, I'll buy into the social distancing since it has been proven to actually make a difference, even though there is a LOT more that should be done from a public policy standpoint. Don't even get me started on ventilator shortages and closing the Office of Pandemic Preparedness.
Conspiracy thinking is lazy - it assumes that all problems stem from a small cabal of nefarious individuals. If only it could be that simple. Reality is much more complex and problematic. Reality is a bunch of people trying their best to follow the twisted incentives offered by a badly broken global system, and all of the best intentions just contribute to the whole thing failing miserably.
In a world like that, expertise is the only thing to hold onto, so I'll keep washing my hands for 20 seconds while singing Happy Birthday twice and working and schooling from home. Commuting sucks anyway.
That being said, there are primary elections being delayed here, and if that happens in November with the general election and referendum on POTUS (piece of tiny-handed unflushable s***) I'll give up my social distancing and be first in line with a torch and pitchfork.

I’m also not riding with the conspiracy theories and I don’t think it matters where it’s from I just think the measures are like trying to kill a mosquito with a machine gun in a room full off people and you’re going to do far more harm then good
Yes it seems like the right thing when you in fear and in the moment but over the next 10 years how many people are going to suffer because of failed economies, homelessness, poverty and all its knock on effects!
Don’t get me wrong I don’t like this economic system at all, but I don’t think we’re ready to leave it just yet! I just think that something 90% of people will recover from easily shouldn’t result in 99% of people suffering in the future and continue to enrich the 1% out of fear!
