Should we expect another revolution in Ukraine? Thousands gathered to the rally of supporters of Saakashvili in Kiev
October 17, Kiev, a rally was held by the former governor of the Odessa region and former President of Georgia, Mikhail Saakashvili and his supporters.
The meeting rally was held without any serious incidents. It was reported that a fight between People's Deputy Vladimir Parasyuk and the head of the State Guard, Valery Geletai was recorded.
Saakashvili supporters demanded from Ukrainian authorities to create anti-corruption courts, abolish the immunity of the deputies and adopt a new electoral law - move to a proportional election system with open lists.
Saakashvili spoke at the Verkhovna Rada and urged Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to resign. "While there is Poroshenko - there is no progress, there is no fight against corruption. While there is Poroshenko - there will be poverty! While there is Poroshenko - there will be emigration, "said the former governor of the Odessa region.
In late July 2017, Saakashvili was deprived of Ukrainian citizenship. After that he promised "to fight for the return to Ukraine". On September 10, Saakashvili crossed the Polish-Ukrainian border at the Shegini checkpoint. Together with supporters who took politics in a tight ring, he managed to break through the cordon of Ukrainian security forces.
Mikhail Saakashvili is a Georgian and Ukrainian politician, leader of the Rose Revolution in Georgia. He was president of the country from 2004 to 2007 and from 2008 to 2013. After the new president Georgy Margvelashvili joined the office, Saakashvili left for Ukraine. The Tbilisi court in absentia brought charges against him in several criminal cases. In December 2015, Georgia stripped his citizenship.
