A BREWING WAR IN NIGERIA

in #politics7 years ago (edited)

Yes, a brewing war with its attendant crepitation is on the horizon. A war that will destabilise the political and sane clime of Nigeria. A war whose consequences will be insufferable. A war that will create a fissure in the wall that had hedged us in as a nation. A raging war that will consume mainly those who are at the lower rung of the societal ladder. A war that we will collectively and eventually rue as a nation and wistfully wish he had not happened. Revolution is, according to a philosopher, not a tea party. It has been a raging wild wind that leaves a gaping devastation in its wake. It will be precipitated by animosity fueled by vitriolic and incendiary commentates that are anathema to our collective existence. The fabric holding us together is becoming frayed and nerves as well are fraying interminably. There is no where one turns to without a conspicuous scribbling of disaffection on the countenance and visage of people. The atmosphere is tense. The firmament is dark. Money is hard to come by despite the not inconsiderable amount of diligence sublimated and exerted. Nothing is coming forth our way and we think people will not deem it fit to instigate, incite and foment the tenuous thread of violence brewing and raging in the polity? Nahhhhhhhh. I heard of a man, nay, a friend of mine, this morning who drank garri together with his family as supper because he is in dire strait. My heart bleeds for him. But how can i help when i am also scrimping. That is the story of many people. Now tell me, if someone offers him 1 million naira to perpetuate a heinous crime, do we think he will bat his eyelids before he carries it out? Your answer is as good as mine. Such kind of people becomes easy recruit and used as cannon fodder. Nigeria is in serious quandary.
What shock me out of my cocoon this morning was a piece of information i heard over my sound system about the proliferation of arm smuggling into the country. What that portends is that we are about to witness a full-scale war in the offing. The rate at which arm smuggling is broadcast ad infinitum is a testament to the fact that people are ready to vent their spleen of disconsolation and disaffection on whoever comes their way. Let us assume that the arms were not detected and proscribed forthwith but had its pathway cleared for its smooth sail to its destination, what would have been the pulse of the nation now? It would have been boiling and frothing with blood of the innocents. Until people can feel a sense of rectitude and their situation alleviated off the poverty doldrums, we should be ready to be regaled of another attempt by those bent on seeing the nation go up in flames. But, would we blame them if this clime is in flame? I would not for once. !

A raging war in the offing,
Bent they have become,
The nation in flame without a soothing home,
Anger on their visage... Very unbecoming,
But, would i blame what they have become?

Sort:

It is your oil, siphoned off by the multinationals and sold at a huge profit while your people starve. It is their oil. The people of Nigeria should be rich.
The greed of the elites will always bring revolution and, more often than not, the revolution does not hurt the elites but strengthens their position. Look at Libya. Look at Syria. Look at Venezuela. A people divided is a people conquered.

We should really be rich but the antithesis obtains. Our collective patrimony is fleeced and we are left in abject, undesirable poverty. By the time the war or revolution commences, the elite will take to their heels pronto. It has to start now. Thank you for your comment. Duly followed back.

My heart is with you, brother.
