The Bernie Sanders Movement, Is It Still Berning On or Has It Busted?

in #politics8 years ago (edited)

Bernie Sanders has been making all kinds of headlines as of recently with the newest set of email scandals in 2016 between top advising members in the DNC, including lead woman Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Of course you won’t see theses headlines on any major news network as they are working to blackout any negative news reflecting the DNC. So we’ve speculated that the DNC has much media influence, but with these new set of emails, they make it easy to detail the account of just when and how the DNC used their cards to manipulate Bernie’s influence through media. Back when the 2016 democratic primaries were taking place, Bernie Sanders shook up the polls with an unforeseen momentous movement. He was polling well through surveys and doing well with rallying in new voters as well as bringing in voters from the opposite party lines. Yet somehow through all of this energy in his movement, his poll numbers were not reflecting the same energy his movement was garnering. Many placed the blame on this difference in numbers due to the fact that the DNC was playing a game of favorites with their top choice being Hillary Clinton. Even Bernie Sanders spoke against the grievances he was facing with media blackout of his events and stories being spun from a party he was trying to run with. He expressed his concerns during the primary that the DNC was working against him while he was trying to campaign for president. It is evident from the recent emails, that were leaked by the almighty knowing wikileaks, that this speculation turned out to be true. It was baffling for all those who could blatantly see the favoritism happening in the 2016 democratic primary, that there was any negation to these realities. With the light of this recent news a lot of my peers have been asking the question, “ When is Bernie going to make his move? When will he dismiss the nomination of Hillary Clinton and ask to redo the casting of votes, because he was not subjected to a fair election due to all the corruption?” I don't see it happening, but all that could change this week with the Democratic convention. I have been watching, listening, and reading the news on how the democrats are trying their hardest to tidy up this mess before the convention and to rally the troops, on what they perceive the winning team, the lesser of the evils running for president. But I don’t want to focus on that POV. I want to comment on how the focus of politics is shifting. How with all of this corruption coming to light, media is still creating narratives to try and shift the american vote. New media is emerging and hopefully a new form of politics and discussions with it. With the release of these emails Debbie Wasserman Schultz has since resigned from her position. Is this an affirmation of the parties wrongdoing? Could this be the start of a new leaf for the democratic party? Who knows, but what we do know is this; yes, Debbie Wasserman Schultz has stepped down from the DNC chair, but only to walk into the gracious hands of the Clinton campaign. And if this doesn't show her bias I don't know what does. Now the race to “unite the party” is on . Bernie Sanders commented on the issue stating “Debbie Wasserman Schultz [has] made the right decision for the future of the Democratic Party. [While] she deserves thanks for her years of service, the party now needs new leadership that will open the doors of the party and welcome in working people and young people. The party leadership must also always remain impartial in the presidential nominating process, something which did not occur in the 2016 race.”
While many are condemning Sanders for staying with the party that basically stole this election from him, one has to admit he came in with a goal and though he may not have won the democratic presidential nomination, he has still accomplished a lot through his campaign, by raising the awareness of voter fraud and suppression, by shifting the focus of the debates to a pressing issue of where our money is and how unfair the divide is between the 1% and the 99%, and also heading a movement that spread like wildfire and got many new voters registered and talking about politics. The change has started. He headed that movement. Now we should take that momentum and continue it. We’ve got the numbers to steal back our government and take back our states. Remember it doesn't start or end with the presidential nomination. We also have many seats in congress up for reelection. There are 34 U.S. Senate seats to be contested in 2016.
Our current U.S. Senate has 54 Republicans and 45 Democrats (including one independent). The 2016 Senate election takes place on November 8, 2016. There are 34 seats up in 2016, of which 24 are held by Republicans. If you are a citizen of the USA, do me a favor stop complaining and start doing! Vote Bitches.

Okay peace love and hair grease,
Aly
