People increasingly identify with the Classical Liberal / Libertarian philosophy over the control-everything you do "regressive left" or "regressive right". This is a transition I made well over a decade ago after realizing over time that no single "party" (not by philosophy, and certainly not by many of their actions) really fit my ideological beliefs. I came to the conclusion that I am a Classical Liberal, which essentially means I am Fiscally Conservative, and Culturally Liberal.

More recently, Dave Rubin also made this "transition" upon realizing that the "regressive left" has now become as absurd as the "regressive right" of the 90's. And while the left remains vitriolically critical of the "bible-thumping right", it's even more ironic that they go out of their way to support far more oppressive Muslim ideology. Perhaps they really just don't get it. Some of these Christians may judge you and "look down" on you for some of your "lifestyle" choices. Muslim cultures will toss homosexuals off the roofs of buildings or stone a woman to death for getting raped.

I myself must admit I didn't quite get it either until just a few years ago. I believed it was just a bunch of radical lunatics taking the Quran "out of context". But quite frighteningly, it goes much deeper than that, as demonstrated here and here. I also recently wrote a post trying to "debunk" some of the "misinformation" around the Israel vs Palestine conflict. However, more people are slowly starting to realize this is an issue of "cultural-compatibility" more than anything else, as the female lesbian Ontario Premier recently learned as she was forced to sit in the back corner of a Mosque all by herself while the Muslim men prayed, before she was allowed to deliver a message that “we’re all the same”.

It seems when people go too far to either side of the political spectrum, they crash right back into each other at the "other end", which makes key fundamental principals such as "freedom of speech" (and the free and open flow of ideas) all the more important:
