Freedom of speech people, do you really respect each others rights to an opinion that opposes you
In todays society, we find ourselves gagged by political correctness, freedom of speech comes at what price??? the price is you have to listen to opinions that may violate your own code of ethics, politics, religion etc, do you still respect that individuals right to have their say? if we were allowed to be totally honest would we embrace others freedom to do the same or just our own opinions, I believe even if I disagree with you that I can still respect your view even if I find it distasteful, bigoted or offensive, in fact I believe we do not have the right to tell anybody what they can and can't think or say, it sets up a dangerous precedence when people are imprisoned all over the world for their spoken words. I would rather live in a world where I was disgusted by what others said than live in a world where we were told what we could or could not say (and think) for fear of imprisonment or for fear of offending somebody elses sensibilities. I would rather use logic, critical thinking, sound reasoning and arguments against people with vastly differing opinions to my own, then say "you have no right to say that". You never know when arguing with others you might find your own opinions shift. So do you actually want real freedom of speech, I believe the answer is yes, today people are in prison not just for opinions but for speaking the truth.
