new rakeback system in Pokerstars: first impressions
No more Supernova Elite since months, but now no more Supernova, PlatinumStar, GoldStar and so on. No more stars, but chests instead. I'm trying to understand this very new changes on Pokerstars.IT.
Long story short, rakeback will be more randomized.
I see rake is still the same amount at the cash / zoom table, about 5.5%.
Before
With the old VIP system every regular could calculate his average VPP per hand (1 EUR of rake = 8 VPP) and the monthly rakeback give a known volume of hands at his own stake(s). Then there was a little extra from promotions like cardmatch and others (nothing serious).
A SilverStar was taking about 11-12% rakeback, GoldStar 15-16%, PlatinumStar 18-20%, and Supernova 28%.
To get exact amount with the old Steps, you could make a table like this:

I still don't get the exact amount of Reward Point per rake / VPP. The PS website still has old information.
I played about 2200 hands this night, making about 83 VPP.
I unlocked 5 chests with this numbers, but the reward inside each chest is randomized. So, how much rakeback today?
100 StarsCoin = 1 EUR rakeback, 8 VPP = 1 EUR rake
I was GoldStar, so 24% is really not bad for me, but maybe it's luck, let's see how it goes!

I never cared (much) about the rakeback system. As a pure MTT grinder I only reached platinum most of the time.
Still, I think since amaya took over pokerstars it slowly but surely is turning into a pure-gamble oriented system. This change obviously shows they try to be as intransparent - even regarding rakeback - as possible.
Still, their MTT schedule is great, fields are soft. So yeah, mixed feeling about PS.
I agree! I play on .it instead of .com but there are the same kind of pros/cons, but I rakeback is doing more difference because rake is much higher on .it.
At the end of the month I will have some more info to understand if rakeback went up or down for a former goldstar (and for a former supernova, if a friend of mine helps me by tracking his bonuses).
Looking forward to more reports.
Do you play MTTs as well? How are the field sizes in Italy and how good would you say players are?

Rakeback is actually much lower, because with the new system VPPs changed from 8 to 5 for each 1 EUR/USD of rake. I'm sorry for the inaccuracy, but this change was not reported by Pokerstars, I just discovered it talking with support (because yesterday they removed any way of tracking rake/VPPs in their software).
Long story short: that 24% is more like a 15%.
