SPU POETRY CONTEST #1: Reversed Lips

What do lips set in reverse hold?
Hiding emotions, hiding truth
Laughter has been a medicine for the insane
Remedy for deceit

Those teeth so white and pale
Shining dimly with no joy
Bringing sadness like gale
What is the aim of this ploy?

In the old world, corpses too did laughed
Having no teeth
Hanging those fangs
Their laughters,
Yes their laughters were haunted
Like echoes in sahara in the ears of a camel.

Why then do laughter hide so much in disguise?
Why then would sadness not raise its ugly head alone?
Must an infant always be decieved?
Of pain embroidered by smiles?
Must only the skies cry?
When its been hurt?

I loved the idea of pain embroidered by smiles. Guarded emotions have their purpose and can often times be rather soothing. The sad part is finding a way to relay that situation to the world. Nice write.

Yes. They have their purpose and I think poetry is a good way of relating it to the world.
