Alice
By Stephen Jacob Martin

I wonder if Alice knew that the Cheshire Cat
Was unscrupulous as all get-out.
That his pearly white chompers we're lusting
For drama and demise.
I wonder if his lies of omission were
Markers or triggers for her subconscious mind
To wake up!

Wake up Alice.
Wake up!
Climb through the cracks in the kitty cat's teeth
Look past his eyes and see the truth
That lies will never, ever conquer youth.

I liked reading this poem. Love how you took the inspiration from the prompt and went into a very unique direction - lies will never conquer youth. The last line ends it well. Good job on making the poem your own; not constricting it to a specific style - it works beautifully.

Thanks for the feedback, and thanks for running the contest. I look forward to entering it again. 😎
