The Son of Lightning (Poetrydice Week 31 Entry)
The moment I saw her, I simply knew
This girl was no flower, that much was true...
But then hope whispered, she could still be soft
How wrong was hope, for milady was not...
She was fire, she was lightning,
Oh she made my heart race, and it was frightening...
So I succumbed, and I took me a sample
Yes I planted me a seed; I ate of her apple...
Then the clock ticked, and the clock ticked
Then she birthed me a tree, for all of my troubles...
That tree is you, oh little one
My life's work, my firstborn son...
Now I bid you grow, and become a forest
I bid you blossom, go make me a fortress...
You'll carry my name, across all the nations
A bridge over water, you'll link future generations...
Like a magnifying glass...
Through you, may men see the world
Go forth my son,
And may no question mark e'er taint these words...
For you are my tree, and the son of lightning...
