SteemitPoetryContest #12 — "Wandering Years" (Original Poem)
Wandering Years
These are the wandering years,
mystic-misfit, born exile —
homeless at last, tormenting idea
become beckoning reality
Lover of longing’s song
and whispered promises
all the colors once fixed
now, profusely bleed...
Just as constellations disperse
the pattern no longer discernible
here, within reach, the future looms
high as imagination, deep as fear.

This is beautiful! So much hope, and the lack thereof being conveyed at the prospect of what may or may not come to be. I look forward to reading more of your work.
Thank you, for your kindness, @mic.mayhem. Hope is what keeps us alive and, paradoxically, uncertainty, too. Perhaps, if we knew how everything would turn out, we'd lose a spring in our steps. Glad you enjoyed this, and hope my words continue to keep you good company :)
the way you use your last stanza is brilliant and such a good way to tie everything together.
the space of, well... space, such a great metaphor for both the infinite possibilities and fear of the unknown inherent to an unknowable future, it's so great, mate.
strong stuff, Yahia, brilliant.
Much appreciated, @carmalain7! Yes, reading is an active sport and writing a collaborative one - this is how I feel as I read your warm response. Thanks, for lending poem your imagination & best of luck with your art!
Good work friend, and good luck in the contest!
Thanks, for your attention and encouragement, dear @sgtechservices :) Best of luck with your own poetry!

At the heart of this poem is an exile's song, contemplating an uncertain Future... The wandering is that of an immigrant Arab poet (Egyptian/Lebanese) trying to make home away from Home...
I hope others within the @Arabsteem community will appreciate the sentiment described, here, as well.
Thank you for the deep, stunning lines!
Glad you enjoyed it, @Sinilga, and hope my words will continue to speak to you :)
Always deep and yet almost off-puttingly personal stuff that asks big questions in small words (and without, ya know, question marks).
Love your style, always.
Good to be heard, in-quietly, my friend. I really like how you put it: ‘asking big questions... without question marks’.
The task of the poet is to stir the reader to their own poetry of feeling.
Thanks, for listening 👂🏼
Great poetry...
Thank you!
Words in place!
What do you mean by that? :)

A very intriguing poem. If I may be so bold as to say... the chains are loose, uncertainty is welcomed.
