Ode to the Genius of Inspiration —Writers Block Poetry Contest Week 4
Below, is my response, in verse, to this fine writing prompt from @thewritersblock :
"Genius is the activity which repairs the decays of things, whether wholly or partly of a material and finite kind. Nature through all her kingdoms, insures herself. Nobody cares for planting the poor fungus: so she shakes down from the gills of one agaric countless spores, any one of which, being preserved, transmits new billions of spores to-morrow or next day."

Ode to the Genius of Inspiration
When beside yourself, blindfolded
and bundled off where all is winking
confidences and suffused smiles
a sense of imminent revelation
Blessed state as delineated as a planet—
where the mind’s eye must no longer squint
to see symbols daily embedded, the trick is
not to steal from this capital of riches
Try to cultivate organs of appreciation
breathe the genius, healing air, pregnant
with answers, and wriggling, acquire
a taste for the return and above all
Pray you might remember the Way…
