Dissonance

I'm all too happy
when the serpent crashes through the window
and screams at the apple that fed it
as if to imply
that a few leaves
would cover up the glare behind them
like the irradiated, dying body
would have ever been enough
to hold the snake's attention in the first place
if nothing so limitless had not taken home in it
