Pearlescent Poems # 27: Do More Than Survive (Original Poem)
In the past and even now, they say, "I hate your tone"
They weren't talking about our voices, but of our skin-color shown
It's true we're all humans, with each other to depend on
But if you ask some folks for help, they'll say, "Well that depends on..."
Why do we slaughter and we slander each other with degradation?
Many people in division, persisting the segregation
Staying mentally asleep, they eat the force fed sedation
Then they grow dependent on the steady given medication
At some point in time, they've all been brainwashed
Influenced, indoctrinated, misguided, and lane lost
Found themselves in repetition, strange circles, Twilight edition
I call them autopilot copies, or zombies, death reminiscent
It's time to make our own paths in this labyrinth of life
You'd be amazed beyond the maze of haziness and the strife
Don't get caught inside your vanities, where insanity shapes
Your world rests upon your shoulders like a canopy draped
